Ok I will try my best. B)

So what things can we do to make the car faster? Even if we're talking untested stuff or something. I've seen people change the tires and it helps but it can't take just a tire change to beat a Viper. I wanna step on the gas and feel it! BTW, can we put a tach on the car so we can like monitor it when we drive? I think I have one in my garage and a cone filter. I have nos but I'm not putting it on this car cause that wouldbe mad stupid adn you'd have to be trippin to do something like that. Plus I don't need to have the po getting up in my grill cause i;m rollin with a nos bottle in the car. Plus we gots the electric motor up in this so maybe we can upgrade the battery? Maybe a grounding kit or something? I mean really if I could get this car into 14s in the quarter mile I'd be stoked!

I think you need to change lures.

Now if you had said you were on your way to Starbucks for a Tazo and a croissant listening to Pavarotti after having just seen "An Inconvenient Truth" and thinking about global warming and how much you hate Bush...

A 2004 modified Prius holds the hybrid speed record at 130.794 mph. Among the changes made were to the wheels, final gear ratio and inverter voltage.

Yo bro, check it. I don't listen to that nonsense and I don't give a crap about coffee or politics or whatev. Like I said earlyr I gotta drive this thing cause my sister wrecked my civic. Not much of a choice so I'm making the best of it. I figured I'd be able to take a van with a car half that things size but I was wrong. Then I coem on here and see people have beaten the snot out of vipers or something and i was hoping you all could help a brother in need out! i got extra parts from my old whip and i think i can use some on this thing except for like the vtec controller and exhaust and crap. I really wanna be able to smoke this kid in my hood with a wrx... he thinks he's so cool but i cant even beat a van now!!!!!!!!!! :(

find the posts about the Can-view. It provides that info and more on the MFD (although not for the 2006 yet, i'm pretty sure).

Maybe he can chirp his tires. He has a Package 9 2006 Prius, the only one I've ever heard of.

ok brah. It's like this. Your new ride ain't gonna get any faster with engine mods. filter, CAI, exhaust and you're looking at 2, maybe 5hp tops. You want fast? you lose da weight. Here's how it works, check it out. Dump the rear seat, dump the donut, and e'erything in the trunk.

Now that I thought about it, maybe you can chip it assuming you can find someone to do any engine swap with a 1NZ-FE. Then do the CAI to it.

After that, you'd wanna do a ½-1" drop and slap on them rims. Aiight?

When you've done all that, you come back and tell us how it goes. Ka-peesh?

What are you an nice person? You seem to know what you're talking about. Maybe I need one of those VVT-I badges to make my car go faster eh? Maybe that badge gives you 30 extra mpg.

You most certainly *can* chirp the tires on a Prius, I own a Classic and can do it all the time, but it's one chirp and then the traction control cuts in and then the tires grip and you go normally.. It really depends on the tires (the brand/model and their state of wear as well as the road surface) vs. any hard rule that says you can't do it..

As for fast pickup, I find that stomping on the pedal is absolutely the wrong thing to do for fast pickup.. If you stomp on it, it sits there for about 2 seconds before it even begins to move, and then it moves away very slowly before finally picking up speed.. The fastest way I've found is to simply accelerate gradually under moderate pedal pressure, and once you've got a bit of momentum, increase the pedal (but again, don't stomp on it, otherwise you'll get the 2 second delay again) and let the electric motors do their job and you'll just take off..

If I turn the steering wheel all the way to the left, stand on the brakes and the gas at the same time (all the way to the floor), I can get a very small chirp out of the tires in a Prius. I did it one day while driving a dealer owned Prius to an ecology show. my wife was next to me in a Highlander hybrid and she just laughed at me but she then informed people at the show that the Prius does have enough power to chirp the tires as a way of smoothing questions about performance.

Racing on the street and Drag Racing, despite what Websters might say, are two different things. I actually feel using a Prius body on a drag car might generate a whole lot of interest in hybrid technology from a group of peoplewho are extremely well versed in efficiency and very creative in their understanding of how to modify a vehicle to maximize its potential.

However the bottom line is the Prius does economy and environment better than just about anything else on the road and it does it with comfort and safety. It is not and probably never will be a sports car by any stretch of the imagination although the Prius body is extremely aerodynamic and I can picture a replica of the body being used in racing situations.

    ROFLMAO!!
If you can afford all those Mods just let someone else have the Prius and go buy yourself a ricer. Don't mess up a good car. Try to avoid slamming your race car into that nice family with two car seats in the back too.

Have you tried doing a search on modifications that have been done. I'm sure you get or give that advice on the Civic forums. There's a lot of info on this site and the Internet on what people have done. The fact that you latched onto "beating the snot out of vipers" tells me you need to do some more reading. Somehow, I doubt your parents are going to let you do anything to their Prius except maybe wash it, if in fact they own one. You are capable of writing in a normal fashion but choose the Ali G impersonation, thinking it's creative and having a little fun for the benefit of your Civic buddies. I think you are a lot smarter than your "gravity" comment would imply. Not knowing what package the Prius is indicates you do not have much interest in it at all.

You know, i didn't really think much about it before, but i just did a search of the site here and can't find a post where someone claims a prius beat a viper... the closest i can find is in the old hybrid racing stories thread where someone talks about taking the 400h against a viper and losing...
