After two years of only putting 600 miles a year on the Silverado i decided to sell it in the interest of saving money. Used the savings and bought a small utility trailer for chores around the farm. So far the gen3 has 40k miles on it with a trailer behind it. The gen4 bought new in August 2017 has 18k total miles but 12k of them have been in tow mode. The map is on the back of the leesure lite camper that we bought thanksgiving 2016. That’s where we’ve travelled to in just over a year. Both prii tow wonderfully. Leaving tomorrow for the Florida panhandle in the gen3 towing the camper.

Oh, and yes that is over 700 pounds of concrete and chicken feed in the back. Don’t need no gas hog truck anymore.

Small 4 by 7 picked up used on CL. the thing is so light empty i can pick it up with one hand and move it. Used it a few times behind my husquvarna lawn mower. Hitch from etrailer. Can’t remember the brand. Easy install on both prii. Took me maybe 30 mins. The trailer light harness was another matter especially on the gen4. Both prii have the helper airbags in rear springs to keep things level and comfortable.

Have a tractor supply or Lowe’s hardware near you? They have new ones in stock. Originally looked at a new 4 by 6 at Lowe’s. Found the 4 by 7 used for half price. The 7 is the right size for occasional long items. Used it yesterday to pick up a couple 12 foot 4x4 for a project. Folded the gate in and strapped them on top. Bit of overhang on the back but 6 miles home. No bother. Did similar with sheets of plywood.

200 pounds is about right. Tongue weight on mine is about 20 pounds. Go by Lowe’s and lift one up by the tongue. You’ll be shocked by how light they are.

Just looked up the specs. 325 lbs total weight. Slightly more than double what i weigh. Nope not lifting that whole thing. My back just twinged a bit thinking about it.

Kudos to you for being able to ditch your gas-guzzling pickup.

I can't live without my truck. Has been loaded up to 5 tons (scale weight) many times, and is indispensable when there's over a foot of snow.
