    Does anybody has any information on the battery? Usable capacity, manufacturer, air or liquid cooled (active/passive) etc?

    14.2kWh is the usable amount based on the EPA ratings.

    @jdonalds , @dstrauss or @Ken7 would be able to tell you how much they drew from the wall for their Clarity PHEVs.

    The only full charge we've done recently took 14.5kWh over 2 hours and 5 minutes.

    Just found this this morning from this website:

    Maintenance | 2018 Clarity Plug-Inc | Honda Owners

    Looks like under the hood it has "High Voltage Battery System Coolant Reserve Tank", do I presume that means it is liquid cooled?


    I have never owned a Honda before but based on what I read, does it mean Honda does not have a 'fix' maintenance schedule like other manufacturer? Instead the car's computer calculate the usage of the car and spits out the maintenance code and you go by this code to schedule for whatever the car thinks need to be done (or do it yourself)?

    Also I presume Code '3 - Replace Transmission Fluid' does not apply as there is no transmission in the Clarity?

    Found this in the FAQ section (the dealer I talked to did not know it has a heat pump):

    At least since our 06 Civic Hybrid, there wasn't a published maintenance schedule. Instead they have the in-dash "Maintenance Minder". It monitors various criteria, obviously the odometer, but apparently several others as well. It counts down percent to zero, the deadline for next service, and from 15% downward puts a warning on the dash, and displays a code that equates to what needs doing. For example:

    A: oil change
    B: oil and filter change
    1: tire rotation

    The more typical service will be A1 or B1, they alternate. But then occasionally they'll be something like B13, being:

    Oil and filter change
    Tire rotation
    Transmission fluid change

    If transmission fluid change is indicated in your Owner's Manual, barring a typo, it likely does apply. There might be a typo in the book, but there certainly wouldn't be an error in the in-dash display: if it displays a 3, it means it.

    The transmission drain-and-fill might even be covered in the Owner's Manual, Honda's better in that regard, usually has the oil change instruction, at the least. Though in recent years they're maybe dumbing it down some?

    I went to Amazon, read reviews, and I wanted WiFi just because I like gadgets. I bought the JuiceBox Pro 40 with JuiceNet. I'm pleased with it.

    Well, transmission covers everything that gets the engine or motor output to the axle. Even a simple chain or set of gears is going to be lubricated in some way on a car.

    GM's onboard system didn't go into such depth. When the service alert came up, the manual instructed you to do this everytime, and to also these extra things every other time the alert happened. Items that required attention beyond 2 years of 30k miles where just listed on a chart.

    Or simply a plain in the butt, or could result in a mess if not done properly. GM did away with dip sticks on their automatics. Which meant opening up level checking hole under the car. If you did this without the engine running on the HHR, a quarter to half the fluid would drain onto your garage floor or driveway.

    The hydrogen tank is going to fall under the DOT regulations that cover CNG tanks. These are the regulations to stipulate end of use dates for the tanks. They also require an annual inspect of them.
