Yeah im 19 myself and drive an '04 Prius. Certainly none of my friend's cars gets as good gas mileage. I would agree that it is not common for us younger males to be driving these cars, but girls do love my car. Compared to say a corolla/ civic/ sentra the prius has alot more interior space, worked very well taking my shit to college and hauling a christmas tree. Way easier to fold down the seats in the prius than to take them out like we used to do in our '01 Sienna.

Wow this was the first thread I ever wrote.

You're right, I'm not happy driving anything else. Got another Prius.

I was too because it took me to his first post and he was going to spend Twenty some thousand for a 2009 Prius and then I saw the date. lol

Now macmaster05 you have a lot of experience with your first Prius. Tell us how it treated you and about your new one.

How did that job work out after college and you must be in your early thirties now.

The Gen 2 Prius is an excellent car that served me well for a relatively long time. During the first 2 years I owned it, I was really keen on getting good gas mileage. I hypermiled, averaged between 50-55 mpg, calculated my MPG from gas receipts, the whole nine yards. I also had fun doing easy modifications and waxing my car monthly. I took great pride in my Prius, and the age thing I was concerned with at the beginning of this thread, turned out to not bother me. My car was cool and my peers liked it.

When I moved to LA 6 years ago, however, things began to change. I didn't have as much time to devote to my car. I stopped hypermiling so that I wouldnt get killed on LA highways. I moved into my own apartment with no garage, so I didn't wax my car every month. When I had to get new tires at about 60k miles, I was sold on some non-LRR Yokohamas, which dropped my mileage and only increased my complacency, leading to a 47 MPG average. My multi-function display died out-of-warranty while I was over 100k miles, and I never bothered to fix it knowing it would cost over $2000. Though the condition of my car began deteriorating, sometime during all this I resolved that I would drive my Prius til it's last breath. I was never going to sell it. It still ran perfectly and I truly believe it had another 10 years to go. I was looking forward to seeing how long it could last. Sadly that day came early at the hand of an accident and not "natural causes."

I would say I made a good decision almost 8 years ago.

Great story macmaster05. Kind of cool to see your post come back from the dead and to hear how the car treated you.

These cars really are amazing. I bought mine 4 years ago for $8200 on a whim, just to use to take the kids for their soccer league games 2.5 hours away most weekends. Little did I realize that this would become the best car I ever owned, and I have owned about 28 cars in my lifetime.
