Check with your insurance company! SOME companies see a roadside service call the same as any other insurance issue! I found out the hard way when I tried to change insurance companies a few years ago. Now I use AAA.

So does it affect your claims history (or discount) when you come to renew ?

At the time my insurance company was Auto Owners. But when I call around to price check.... I always get more than one yes it counts.

I bought a Prius Prime last week and registered the Safety Connect a day later. It came with three free years, not one. I don't know if that is the same with all models. I seem to recall the salesman thinking it was only going to be one free year, but they were quite clear it is three years. They sold me a fourth year for $80 (which is the current yearly price). Buying that year meant that I can't ever be charged more than $80 per year for the Safety Connect service. I would not be without the service, especially since it facilitates remote starting of the A/C system. More important than that, my mother went off a rain-slick rural road, down a steep embankment and into a tree years ago. She eventually managed to work her way out of her car and somehow got up the embankment (in the rain) and stumbled around until she found a passing car. That memory is enough for me to spend the $6.66 per month.
