    Hello all.

Just picked up a 2010 Prius ( believe it is a IV). Pictures to come need to clean it a bit.

I hope to learn some more about these cars and keep mine lasting to many Kilometres ( miles). Currently has 89000 km( 55000 miles)

Any other members from Canada specifically south western Ontario ?

I have seen some here from Toronto (I am originally from that area) but I do not specifically remember south western Ontario.
@Tideland Prius and @Mendel Leisk are two Canadian users who have been here longer than I have.

@Eug and @Sarge are long time ON PC members.

You have a Technology Package (as it's called in Canada). The American members here know what it is. It's a blend of the IV and V if you wanted to explain it. (IV because it has the solar roof, halogen headlights and 15" wheels. V because it has DRCC, PCS and IPA).

Good to know I live 2hours west of Toronto so not bad.

Makes sense since mine has the DRCC but not LKA and pcs. Thanks for the information.

I was originally in Scarborough and mainly traveled to points east, except for Niagara Falls. I worked in downtown Toronto for a short while.I do not know of many cities that have a castle downtown.

You are not missing much with LKA. In fact I keep it turned off.
The PCS is a good feature, although I remember getting a false BRAKE warning when entering a curve on a narrow road that had a guardrail.

    LOL
I assume you mean the car has the parking assist feature. Even if my car had it I probably would not be brave enough to try it.

I had to read your post a couple of times, wondering about a castle with parking assist. o_O

The castle is on Spadina Ave. IIRC. There are even underground "secret passages".

There are two ways to activate the Intelligent Parking Assist

Pre-Support Button (the button beside your right knee, below the POWER button).

    Or

Positioning the car yourself, then shifting into R and selecting the type of parking on the screen (parallel or reverse)

It's a cool castle and it took the entire morning for me to walk through.

    Welcome, Ryker14!

Indeed I am another Canadian members in Milton just west of Toronto. 2hrs west.... I presume you are near London?

I am on my 2nd Prius (this one has a plug and HOV perks :)), they are great cars and this is a great and knowledgeable community, so feel free to ask anything you are curious about, or let me know if you are in the GTA sometime.

    Cheers!

I’m sure it will, the Prius (all generations) have an amazing reliability record. My first one got me 392k KM of Toronto driving over 10 years... and still had mostly original brakes! (Only changed the front pads ONCE as one slipped and started wearing unevenly... but everything else was original: front rotors and rear drums & shoes in the back. Just had them cleaned every couple years). Ultimately, it was the engine that failed and needed an overhaul/replacement (which seemed premature for a Toyota), and decided to sell the car for parts instead to my mechanic. The car practically paid for itself in gas savings, it didn’t owe me anything by the end.

Btw, I know a great private Prius mechanic in the Toronto area if you ever need any significant work done, like a battery rebuild.(y) (For a fraction of the cost of replacing with new)

About the reliability thing, my prius has gone 350 000 km lol, (or its a huge possibility its gone closer to 500 000 km since the dummy that had the car before me changed out the dash). And its still running with no problems yet. So i think u r solid on the reliability thing.

Thanks, I will let you know. I really hope I don't need to do much if anything for at least a few years as it will just be hitting 100k by the summer

For those in Southern Ontario, (or Western NY), the shop is called Autodex, in Concord (north of Toronto), and the phone number is 905-660-0556. Mony is the man, tell him Kevin sent you. :)

(Hope it’s ok plugging him on here).

    Cheers,

While not affecting me at all, I'd say the more we know about Good Prius mechanics, the better of we are. (y)
So, it's a 'thank you' from me.
