My 17 y/o daughter's car has recently not turned off. Also the lights on the whole dash are intermittently going out. Just last evening she was driving on the highway and her Prius slowed down and when she pressed on the gas it would not go, almost causing an accident. All I can think about is needing a very expensive battery.

First thing, have the connectors on the 12v battery checked for tightness. Corrosion might be there too, but not likely. The battery is in the trunk on the drivers side beneath a little carpeted panel. I assume that you don't have much in the way of mechanic's skills (sorry if I'm wrong,) so you probably should find a local shop that works on hybrids or take it to the local Toyota dealer.

    Welcome to the chat.

And just to clarify, is the 2007 Base model Prius described in your profile that of your daughter's or your own? If it is the latter what is the year and milage of your daughters car?

Just asking as you've posted in the Gen 1 forum and a 2007 is a Gen 2.
