Yep! We've been watching, looking and reading for quite some time and this past weekend my wife and I finally took the plunge and joined the Prius Nation! It's an 05' #5.

We were as giddy as two little kids!! It's awesome! My son things we are driving a space ship (thanks to the MFD) And although our 4 year old daughter is missing the gas gulping van with sliding doors, we're pretty sure she'll come around soon!! In fact she played in the car all night as we got things settled.

This forum is great, it's answered several of my questions already and is a great community.

I don't have much to share, except my huge grin... :D
Look forward to chatting more as we get to know our new little toy.

Let's see: a few things to get you off on the right foot.
(aka, here's what I tell the new owners)

On the bottom of every Priuschat page is a link called "Lo-Fi Version." Click that to be taken to the text-only version of Priuschat. From there you can very quickly skim topics and threads. When you need the full-blown version of a page for attached pictures or whatnot, there's a link on the top of each Lo-Fi page for that.

We all know that there's a ton and a half of high-tech in the Prius. To help you appreciate all the "low-tech" engineering, Figure out these things:
    • Fold all the seats. Yes, ALL of them.
    • Stow away the cargo area cover.
    • Find the drawer under the cup holders.
And most importantly of all, don't try to Pulse-n-Glide, don't try to maximize your mileage, don't try to do things other than drive the car. The rest - if you choose to pursue them - will come to you.

Oh yeah, Congrats on your Prius and WELCOME TO PRIUSCHAT!! [IMG]

Just above the spare, dearie. There are notches on both sides of the molded (not "moulded")plastic contraption to accomodate its length.

Ok. I'll give you this one. But the rest are on you. :)

Notice also, that the bar on the left side of the cargo area acts as a bar to hold up the floor thingy.

Ha! that one's new to me too, but so is my Prius. I'd have eventually taken it out and left it in the garage before I figured that one out. Then one day I'd need it for one reason or another and I'd have forgotten where I put it.

Btw, the black bin underneath the floor has clips that rest on the actual frame. In other words, when you replace the bin back into the floor, don't just throw it in, wiggle it then figure it's fine and dandy. The back (near the battery) and the front (near the bumper) will actually rest on sills making the bin solid so it won't move or distort.

Welcome to the club, and congratulations on your new toy!! :D Your daughter will soon learn that the Prius is better than any van with sliding doors. With the exception of the Sienna Hybrid, should they ever decide to make one, of course. :D

    Tony,
Where did you get the mat for inside the cargo hold? I just got my Prius last Sat. and got a mat for the area behind the back seats. However, I would love to get one for the "hidden" compartment as your picture shows.

    Thanks in advance.

Those actually look like his floor mats. He might have opted for the all WX floor mats. I just ordered mine!!! They'll probably work out best for me down here where it rains almost every other day!

They'll probably work out best for me down here where it rains almost every other day![/b][/quote]You are correct, sir except that on a day-to-day basis, I use Eddie Bower WaterHog mats, not WX. What you see in the picture are my two front and rear mats, neatly stacked and stowed in my cargo area. During auto shows, meet-ups, and Hybridfests, I use my "show mats".

Additionally, the white thing in the little cubby-hole on the left is an old bed sheet used as a drop cloth. I do make runs to Home Depot where I buy wood and other stuff. I regularly haul stuff with the seats folded and the drop cloth down.
