Currently I drive a 2007 Honda Ridgeline with 134K and I am looking to drive something smaller and more fuel efficient. My current commute is 13 miles each way with one leg being mostly freeway and the other is back roads. I am averaging 14.5 mpg with the Ridgeline. Coming up, the commute will change two days a week to 30 miles each way with more than 1/2 of that being a reverse highway commute and the other your typical stop and go. I have found 2 Five trim level Prius to consider buying. One of them has been serviced at a dealership every 5K this one has 156K on the odometer. The other has only 72K on the odometer, but the only entries on the Carfax are the annual registrations. Both of them are one owner cars.

Which one is more appealing? The 156K car is listed around 7K and the 72K car is listed around 9K.

    Thanks!

I'd be more interested in the 72K, but would definitely test drive, pop the hood, look it over good.

Like Mendel said. 72k is a LOT less wear. Get it independently inspected. It's ideal to get an inspection from someone who specifically knows hybrids, but in this case I might be satisfied to get it inspected by a body shop to make sure it hasn't been either water-damaged or crashed (and remember, there are thousands of water-damaged cars in circulation this year). If that checks out clean, these cars are so trouble-free you really don't have much to lose. The 5 is a sweetheart of a car if it's anything resembling intact. Good luck and keep us posted.
