Does anyone have any contacts in the NY/NJ area for dealers? I live in Los Angeles, but I am considering purchasing out-of-state to take advantage of the regional rebates, especially the $4,500. Initial shipping quotes have been around $500.

Do you also get 0% APR for financing? If not, I would negotiate for it.

Let me explain on how this all went down. My wife filled out something at AARP about car buying assistance. After she did that, we got a call from Moss Brothers in Moreno Valley. I talked to a salesman at Moss Bros who told me he could get me into a Prius Prime Advanced for $25,268.00. I was kind of taken back by this and had him confirm many times.. "this is a Prius Advanced?" He confirmed over and over again that it was, so I dropped everything to go out there and take a look. When I got there, of course the manager said, the person I spoke with (I'll leave his name out at this time) was mistaken but they will try and make it right. It was at that time they said the lowest price they could go on the Advanced with 30k even. They also quoted me 25k even on the Premium (trying to make it right for their bait and switch tactic they pulled to get me out there). I had already been working with Melvin at Redlands Toyota for about a week. I have told him what I was interested in, and sent him pictures of my trade and I had an appointment to see him on Saturday. This whole thing with Moss Bros happened Friday evening. While at Moss Bros, I texted Melvin and told him what Moss Bros has offered me for a price on the Prime Premium of 25k even. Melvin texted me back and said absolute lowest price they could give me was $25168.00, no bait and switch.. that's what he can do. Since Moss Bros offered it to me for 25k even I started doing the paper work. Suddenly I noticed they were adding 900 some odd dollars to the 25k saying that they need to add it for GPS tracking which is already on the car. I complained that they had already quoted me 25k for the car the way it was and now this is another bait and switch tactic. Next thing I know they are pulling out that haggle work sheet I can't stand, and we decided to walk away. We never got any further with the Advanced at 30k since it was more than I was willing to spend, but that is what they quoted me. Whether or not they were going to try and add something after the fact like they did on the Premium is anybody's guess.

The next day I went to Redlands and Melvin honored his $25168.00 which included the 2k rebate. However, I had decided to go with 0 percent interest instead since payments were lower and you end up paying less in the long run. So the cost of the car was 27168.00 not including tax and title, and a few other misc. charges like $750.00 for being upside down on my trade.

The experience was much nicer at Redlands. Although Melvin was quoting me at 27k a week prior, and didn't lower it to 25k until I put him on the spot with possibly buying it somewhere else,, but I guess that is how it's done. We didn't have the haggle sheet at Redlands. He made printouts of the various options of ways to buy instead including leasing, using my credit union, using the rebate, not using the rebate, or using my credit union for financing. Much better experience at Redlands, however, admittedly, they didn't seem to have the same amount of inventory as Moss bros.

Thanks for sharing your experience. I hope you write it up on yelp or something. I can't stand certain dealerships with their bait and switch tactics. What a waste your valuable time. Congrats on your purchase.

I went with Seth Fox at Toyota of Runnemede in New Jersey to ship to CO. Shipping was more like $1000-1300 last month.

Does anyone know whether I'll have any issues bringing/registering the car in California? I know that California has a stricter standard on emissions.

NJ's a CARB state, so no problem there.

I paid $900 to ship from Long Island, NY to Albuquerque. I was told (and somewhat confirmed) that the toll to cross the Hudson river was the better part of $50

Any recs on shipping companies? My quote of $500 was an online quote, so the actual might be higher (it seems).

They should be paying us Bird Dog fees, for all the positive promoting we're doing here!! Har, har. Or donate to Geenpeace, or whatever! All I know is, Keep voting with your wallets to support these great Prime automobiles! I'm sure they'll be pushing the plug-in pickup trucks, and SUVs soon!!

Forgot to mention I paid cash, no 0% APR offer here as the Prius Prime is not an "official" Toyota vehicle in Florida. If existing I would have taken it, it is free money

It is already mid march, and still I see lots of 2017 premiums and advance (in 50s and 100s) with socal dealers. Do you think they will start giving same rebates as in NJ and NY in California too?

unlikely. but rebates everywhere have done nothing but go up. hang in there, and they'll be paying you.

I got an offer for a 2017 Prius Advanced $29,870 Out the door in MD. Is this a good deal or can one go lower?

Difference in cali is the Prius gets the HOV sticker. Dealers know this and seem to be unwilling to budge in price. They must be getting enough inquires to do so.

Toyota has the sales figures that we don't have. The car must be selling at comparable levels to the other states despite the rebate being 2.5k less (again, probably because of the HOV sticker)

I wonder where in MD? I just got an out the door offer on an Advance for $31,518 in Northern MD. $3,000 rebate and $2,200 off MSRP. I think they could go lower.
