Tinting problems with the curved rear window

    Took my Prime in for a tint job today and after three attempts they weren't able to do the rear window. Each time they tried, the film began to crease in the upper corner. This is very reputable shop that's been in the business for several years - they did a great job on my old Prius 10 years ago. I think this was the first job like this that they've had and they wanted to go off and research it before messing it up again or keeping me there longer.

    Just wondering if anyone else had a similar experience? And what the solution was?

    Either they can do the curve or they cannot. I went to a few places they said, oh prime? Sorry! Where are you located

    I took my car to a tint shop, they did it first try and did it super immiculate with no mistakes or errors. It was a concern to me at first but the guy laughed and said it was easy! :ROFLMAO:

    Wait til spring or summer. Wetness and cold will affect the bonding of the film vs your windows.

    Are they using ceramic tints? Because dealer is charging me 270 for all 5 windows for regular tints

    I was quoted $350 for all windows except windshield w/ Llumar CTX which I believe is ceramic.

    Standard Prius was $275 and I thought that was pricey. Don't remember what tint they used. It was done in the middle of November and the clear bra was done at the end of November, I like it. $750.

    Just spent $164 with Solar Guard HP for all windows but the front windshield. Service is great, they tinted the smaller window below rear windshied, and 2 smaller front side windows. All were done in less than one hour. I choose 50% for front side, 20% for rest.

    Premium Quality Glass & Tint in Racho Cordova, Sacramento area.

    No problems getting mine tinted.

    I pointed out the back window to the installer, he was able to go into his computer and have the film cut for the specific car.

    Went right on.
