    HI everyone,

I am a new Prius V owner, it's very exciting. Questions I bought the Fidelity Platinum 10 years, 100000 miles mechanical failure service contract warranty for 2200$ I felt a bit pressured buying this.

Has anyone filed a claim with Fidelity and succeded? Just curious. The finance guy said if the dashboard or anything electrical or mechanical that went out, it would be covered.

Thanks any info would be great!

Honestly, I would go back and get a refund immediately. First, the only decent extended warranties are from Toyota, second your expensive Hybrid components already have that much warranty standard, and third, most real problems start after 150,000 miles. If you really want an extended warranty get Toyota's and shop around. Perhaps half the price and you are allowed three years or 36,000 miles (your standard bumper to bumper warranty period) to buy it.

Yes, go back and cancel that extended warranty. Right off the bat your paying for something you can't use for 3 years anyway. As you get closer to the manufacturers warranty expiring you can then go back to ANY dealership and purchase one.

Oh, and as those above said - please buy a Toyota warranty if you do want one. Not all dealers accept "off brand" extended warranties. Even the dealership you purchased this one from may end their partnership with Fidelity - then you wouldn't even be able to get your car repaired there with that extended warranty you just purchased!

Thanks for all your replies!! I will try to get the extended Toyota warranty instead, and how do I go about that? On their main website?

First thing to do is to cancel and get your money back on the first non-Toyota warranty. Then shop around to MANY dealers in your state (ginesville?). Many have bought from Midwest Toyota in Kansas but some states' "leadership" has been bought by the highest bidder and won't allow out of state warranty purchases. I would call Midwest and find out but you still have 3yrs 36k to buy.

I had several bad experiences with Fidelity with my previous vehicle. Never again.
