Nice numbers, what does the Camry get? I didn't look at midsize cars because I already have a low mileage Hyundai I don't drive.

    2018 Camry Hybrid MPG (city/highway/combined):

    LE: 51/53/52
    SE: 44/47/46
    XLE: 44/47/46

Seems odd that the 2018 Accord Hybrid gets the same estimated 47 MPG under all driving conditions and under all trim levels.

Prius is mid-size too. Just saying.

I'd be a lot more interesting if they had a hatchback Accord, I'm spoiled now. Do like Honda though, started with a Civic, then maybe four Accords, and a final Civic (Hybrid) before current Prius.

Unless there is a marked difference in curb weight between the trims, reporting trim specific MPG ratings on the window sticker is optional under EPA.

That said, there is just an 86 pound difference between the lightest and heaviest Accord hybrid trim, and they all use the same size wheels. So the 47mpg actually applying to all is likely correct.

Toyota 'gamed' the test with the US LE hybrid by using Li-ion to cut weight and wheels smaller than what is on the LE ICE model. They might be the wheels that come on the Camry L.

So is the Corolla. It is on the small end of the EPA's mid-size category(110 to 119 cubic feet total volume) with 111cu.ft.. The Prius passenger space is 7cu.ft. less than the Corolla's, but it is a sedan that has a hatch, so surpasses it with 118cu.ft. The Camry is in the middle of the category with 114cu.ft.

The new Accord is actually a large car(120cu.ft. and over) under EPA. Depending on how you do the rounding, cars with moon roofs might just miss large.

Standard 2018 Prius rated at 54 city/50 highway. How could a 2018 Accord Hybrid get 52 combined with its shape and extra weight over Prius?
Is an Accord hybrid supposed to EPA at 50 MPG combined just 2 shy of a Prius?

Those are estimated milage though. I'd be very surprised if that Accord actually got that mileage. Hell put that package in the Civic than. Lol

Originally. Then the EPA started adjusting everybody's numbers to allow comparison to new cars using the updated test rules.
Actually, the combined is still 47mpg, but the city/highway went from 47/47 to 49/45.
    Compare Side-by-Side

The 2018 is a bigger, but lighter, car.

That's a big trunk for a hybrid! (or any midsize sedan!). That's 472.9L for our European friends.

The engine might be smaller, but they are. They are just calling it the Insight.

Too bad they couldn't resurrect the second gen Insight (hatchback) format; that would be much more attractive to Prius fans I think.

The sedan is a more popular format in the US, and they probably figure those that want cargo would rather have a CR-V, which should also be getting this hybrid system.

Dealers have very low inventory of '18 Accord hybrids, like from 2 to 11 versus 100 something to 200+ non hybrid Accords. Must be low demand.

Or it could be low supply.
Any info on how long each sits on a dealer's lot.

Demand was high for the hybrid back in November. The hybrid spent about 11 days on a dealer's lot. The across the board average is about 2 months.
Gone in 60 Days ... or Hours: New cars average two months on dealer lots before they sell, but hot ones motor off in a week or so | Automotive | postandcourier.com

In March, the time for the ICE model was 104 days. Sedans aren't selling well in general.
Honda Accords Are Sitting at Dealers

Looks like the hybrid was just suffering from short supply earlier. May sales quadrupled over Aprils. The Clarity might have poached a few, but isn't hurting the Accord hybrid.
