I replaced the front struts with the KYB struts and Eibach springs this weekend. When I took off the OEM top hat and retainer ring I noticed a lot of grease. No instructions or videos said to put grease on the new KYB parts, so I put very little on each side. Now the right side squeaks slightly when I turn the wheel. Do I add more grease or wait a month to break it in?

Also, I replaced the rear shocks with KYB shocks and Eibach springs. The right rear now makes a slight popping/thump noise over bumps. I know the springs are seated correctly. The bushings are all seated correctly. There’s no movement if I try to shake/move the shock, so it’s ataying in place. Any other ideas?

    Thanks!

That doesn't seem like a quality part then...these are basically OEM parts (KYB)...o_O

Soon found out what it was. The bottom bolt of the right shock was loose. The threads must be facing outward on that bolt, or else it may come loose.

Overall, ride quality is stock. There’s still more body roll than I would like. Lowered stance looks good.

I did the same thing and ending having to install rear sway bar to get rid of the body roll.

Did you install the TRD rear sway bar?

Get the costco bar, it's one piece, the trd is three piece, lots of energy lost.

I bought TRD but for the Scion which is supposedly a little thicker. Comes in Red instead of White. If you search the forum, you can find the part no.

I took care of the clunking in the back, so I still have squealing coming from the new KYB strut mounts it seems. Does anyone know if these came pre-greased or if I should have greased them? I verified the torque specs are right on the top 4 bolts this morning, so all good there.
    Thanks!

I would say that you should grease the same amount as the factory did when the original equipment struts were installed. It is customary to grease the strut mount bearings.

I agree that the 3G factory repair manual is silent on that. However the 2G factory repair manual says to use multipurpose grease #2 and the illustration shows the grease packed to a depth about 1/2 of the way up the center large top strut nut.
