Valid point, but that is why you don't want to put your address or home phone, the best thing is your first name and your cell #. Believe me, I return a lot of phones and key FOB's, but I end up keeping more than I return because they are not labeled.

I ran mine through the washer a couple of weeks ago. When I discovered it I opened up the battery copartment and it wasn't even damp inside. I suspect that the washing machine test was high on Toyota's QA proceedure.

Now if I could just figure out how to get the rest of the key open to do a bit more investigating... I have an idea I'd like to try. :D Has anybody taken one apart?

I visited www.remotetotes.com, but it seems that there are three different types. Which one would fit Prius FOB?

Do you seriously think that Toyota would have marketed a product where one of their dealers couldn't get you back up and running with minimal pain $$$ (well maybe not minimal).

Once get inside the car why wouldn't the dealer have the toys necessary to access the computer systems and generate a new key?

Great question and the answer is YES they can manufacturer a car that can leave you stranded. This is the only negative thing I have about my Prius's, I can not believe that Toyota could not spend another few dollars and come up with a bypass system. The only way to get you going if you have lost or damaged your FOB and can not get the other FOB to your location is to replace the SKS computer and FOB. I have asked why a new FOB could not be programmed and after a long explanation I was told that it is not possible, that in order to program the computer, they must have one FOB that works. Great when you are 500 miles away from home and lost or damaged a FOB ... FED-EX to the rescue I guess

The Remote Tote that you want is the large one, send them an e-mail and tell them what model car you want it for, they will answer back and let you know what will work best. At one time they were making the Tote for the Prius just a little wider in order to make the FOB slip in easier.

I spoke to Jackie at remotetotes.com yesterday..She is making me a couple of remote totes in different colors and is making the large, as you said, a little bit wider...She was very pleasant and seemed happy to help.

Jackie at remotetotes is a veritable GODDESS!

I ordered my (purple!) large tote before noticing any mention that there is a possibility for a degree of customization for Prius fobs...My (VERY tasteful purple) tote arrived today...definitely a tad tight...especially now I have discovered the trick of using the mechanical key to leave the car LOCKED and running for the benefit of doggie...Jackie says...When ordering from them, PLEASE specify Prius...and they will take care of it. She uses computer generated patterns and now there will be one 'specially marked PRIUS!!!

Are we a great lobby, or what? B)
