Update had a tech take a look at my Prius v , it was not hybrid battery that failed,
It was the engine I replaced it 2 yrs ago and a month after I replaced it started burning oil, I was told it had low mileage but burning oil so soon proved otherwise, I was topping off every week.

When this happened I had just checked the oil the day before and noticed the pink coolant on left side was low so I topped it off .

I’ve had a rental trying to decide if I want to fix this Prius v or buy a new one.

It was a hard choice but yesterday I went and picked up a 2017 Prius 2 for 20414 not including tax that’s with $2000 incentive

I may end up selling the Prius v as is...
I loved my v but given the miles I drive and my job not requiring extra space I opted for a regular Prius.

Wow great stuff here. I'm finalizing a purchase of a 2012 prius v with 127K miles. Looks like it will have lots of life left in it!

Have you done maintenance such as replacing spark plugs, cleaning the intake manifold, and inspecting the EGR passages? The latest consensus around here is that the engine can eventually get clogged with 'stuff' from the EGR system, etc...eventually leading to knocking, etc...

Here is a good thread to get you started :
EGR Cleaning: What did I get myself into? | PriusChat

Also, here is a thread about installing an oil catch can (OCC) one you have things cleaned up...which *in theory* should keep things cleaner :
Oil Catch Can, Eliminate that knock! | PriusChat

And here are some great videos on how to do this stuff :

    update
took car to dealer for oil changes after about 2000 miles or so, oil level was higher than usual.
removed about 4 ounces of oil. level is where its supposed to be. so far no misfire or studder on start up.
hope no further damage was done to engine.
keep u posted. p.s can 4 ounces over cause engine damage.

HG leak events fit in the known failure modes of the 1.8, we've read it happen before here in Priuschat.
It is not frequent, but it deteriorates worse with high mileages. of course.

If the oil consumption is still acceptable, the repair can be a viable option.
