    welcome!

i would buy the low mile one, and put one of the new fangled $1,600. batteries in it.

bur in either case, be prepared for a lot of repairs down the road. all the best!(y)

    What are the prices?

Still pretty much a slam dunk though, the higher mileage one is getting into knackered territory.

Sounds daunting. so for most of the time depending on maintenance records go with the lower mileage over newer battery?

Prices are 5k for the 226k and 5.5 for the other lower mileage.

I'm so confused. I have some people saying buy something with a new battery. I am trying to say in the 4500 to 5000 range. and will be using it as a daily doing about 90 miles a day 5 times a week. maybe a used prius is not for me.

Welcome! I see that you're in Tampa. Have you looked at Tampa Hybrids yet? I've had nothing but good experiences with Todd.

After reading some of the stories here about the 2010 and head gasket adventures, I'm not so sure I'd be eager to get one. Not that they all fail, but it does seem disproportionate.

Yes I looked in to Tampahybrids but he only had a 2005 with 203k miles and a battery from a 2012 in it. was a little beaten up looking. this was the only thing in my price range.
Did find out that the 2010 with the 226k not only has a new battery but a new block recently as well.
