The grandson is the ultimate bargaining piece;).

I know my mother would move out here in a heartbeat if it were up to her to spend time with my kids (their only grandkids). But my father is the tough sell:cool:.

They still come out 3 times a year (out here currently until tonight). Once for Christmas so they see the benefits of winter on the west coast(y).

    • 133 mi - Performance Toyota (OH)
    • 441 mi - Koones Toyota Vienna VA
    • 523 mi - Kolosso Toyota
    • 633 mi - Herb Chambers Toyota of Auburn
    • 649 mi - DCH Toyota of Milford
    • 685 mi - Crown Toyota Volkswagen
My recommendation, road trip to test drive the car. However know what you want to pay. Be kind and let them try to sell you one in exchange for the test drive. Have your financing already worked out so they can offer their best deal without any other inducements. Good, fast, cheap, pick two. Best deals are last week of month.

    Good luck!

I'm looking to buy from the east coast and have it shipped to socal due to incentives over there. Does anyone know a good dealership that can offer a good deal?

    Thanks!

So I've been shopping dealers to get a 2017 Prime with east coast incentives. I've had two of the dealers so far telling me that the cash rebate of $4500 may now based on where the car is registered, so that I would not be eligible coming in from out of state.

    Anyone else hear that?

It was not the case when we bought our other Prime in September.

Check out dealers in the DC area..(MD,VA) as they have decent stock on the 2017's at great pricing. Use Toyota's website to locate a dealer in that area and choose one that has ample stock (there are several) and you should be able to make a great deal.

Got mine at Carmax Laurel, MD. You can get 100% confirmed price before going. It is only a few miles from BWI and between DC and Baltimore for a nice tourist trip. They had a 3000k rebate (for 2017's) and I didn't pay local tax since I drove it to NC and will title it here.Plus they have only a 4$ MD tire fee and 99 DOC charge. NO BS charges such as freight, coatings, floormats, or those ridiculous $699 "dealer charges" they charge near me.

They had about 12-13 Primes avail including a few 2018.

I just checked the CarMax inventory and it lists 3 2017 Prius Primes ...I got a quote. I assume I will have to pay KY sales tax when I register it here ?? I also asked how much it would be to ship the car to me. I am waiting for their response.

I don't know about shipping. I got an inexpensive flight to BWI and picked up the car and drove it on my spring break trip then home. I will go into local DMV today to pay taxes and get title. They only will arrange title for PA, MD and maybe VA residents.

Others have said they will pick you up at the airport, but I did Uber. Was out of their office in about 70 minutes with a full tank of gas!

I went to the Carmax Toyota dealer which is across the street from the regular CM. I was told theirs was the only Carmax that sells NEW Toyotas. Mine had 5 miles on the odometer.

I purchased my Prime Premium (MSRP $30,133) last year when regional incentive in NE was ONLY $3,125. The incentive is now $4,500 for 2017 models. My OTD was $24658 including dealer documentation fees and title fee, but excluding applicable taxes. I recently got $4,502 federal income tax credit for this 2017 purchase, so the actual price of the car (thats Premium model with MSRP $30K) became $20K + tax. I would think in the north east states with current $4500 incentive, you should get 25 easily on Premium, but Advanced may also be possible with some haggling.

We are looking for a second car now and purchasing another Prime is a consideration, though our needs for the second car is bigger cargo truck or minivan, which Prime is certainly not a suitable substitution.
