I'm in Seattle. Just thought I'd add a price from up here for reference. I also didn't think I needed my profile to detail a state when it says Seattle. I'm not sure, but I don't recall another location named Seattle :)

You quoted @Yea Right and their price. Since you referred to vehicle price right afterwards I thought you were replying to them.

Still in the hunt for a Prius... I’m ditching the idea of going to a used car dealership and asking the private seller to meet me at a Toyota Dealership before I buy. Came across this 2013 Parsona Prius from a private seller. Carfax is clean and clean title. Car looks nice from the pictures, but it has 117k miles on it and seller has not done the 100k service. Seller is open to meeting me at a Toyota Dealership to get a Prius tech to inspect the car. I’m trying to push to buy under $10k. Thoughts?

I would decide on the features you really want in your Prius (must have vs. can-live-withouts). The Persona has nice specs like leather, upgraded/dark silver 17” wheels, Persona badge etc. The persona 17” wheels will decrease your MPG however. So if you value MPG over aesthetic, then the Persona is less optimal vs the Prius III/IV package.

A clean Carfax + Title is the bare minimum when I look at a car. A good indicator for maintenance is the air filter. If it’s really bad, just assume no upkeep was done post-warranty :ROFLMAO:.

Personally I say stick with the plug-in!!! :)

I don’t really care for aesthetics. More concern with the high miles.

Pulled the trigger on a 2012 Prius III. It has 108k miles, but I was able to get the seller to meet me at a Toyota Dealership for a pre-purchase inspection. When I began this journey, I was leaning towards a PiP. The more I searched the more my budget got lower. Haha!

I’m assuming the best place to buy is from the Toyota dealership?

Online dealers or some that sell on Amazon may be a better price than your local dealer.

Online can be a bit cheaper- I would shop around. HybridPit is a great resource for parts as well

I agree with the OEM answer. Just amazed that it needs pads already at 108k miles. Previous owner must have not known how to drive a hybrid.

The dealer also recommended I get the hybrid cooling fan service and replace the hybrid battery filter. So I asked one of my friends father who is a mechanic about this and he said he never heard of this type of service and also mentioned that there isn’t a hybrid battery filter for the Liftnack Prius.

there is, but not on all models. i don't think the 2012 pip has one. they added it at some point when they realized the dog hair and the like were becoming a problem.

I have a 2012 PiP- is it possible to mod this filter into the existing hardware or is it structurally different?

Is anyone familiar with getting the hybrid battery fan “service?”
