I have been a Prius owner for 6 days now! Enjoying all the posts, thanks! They are certainly helping me learn about our new Prius.

I am driving a 2010 Prius IV. I made 2 trips to a city 40 miles away on the interstate and only got around 41 mpg. Lots of hills, driving about 75 mph on cruise control. Today, I took a difference trip and drove about 35 miles each way. This had a lot of hills as well, but was mostly 2 lane roads, so I was not going as fast and never used the cruise control. I got 50 mpg on today's trip.

Still learning, but I am really excited to be saving so much on gas! My 2002 Tundra only gets about 15 mpg on the same trips mentioned above.

Congratulations on the prius! Sounds like your car is getting the fuel economy it should. Definitely check your oil every so often, and figure out how much oil it burns. Hopefully it doesn't burn any, but anymore that's wishful thinking in a 2010.

Congratulations!! I know what you mean about the hills. I go through KY on trips to see family in Ohio. They will kill your mileage on the interstate with cruise control. It'll help if you can get in behind a semi (not too close to be safe) and imitate the way they slow down going uphill and speed up going down.

From what you describe, though, I'd say you're about spot on with your mileage under the conditions you were facing.

The previous owners said it was not burning oil, but I will definitely keep an eye on it. I just changed the oil and filter so I know exactly where the line was when I filled it. I do my own maintenance.
