I'd have to agree with the thinking on this one.

I drive 500-700 miles / week in the city for work. My last car had a typical range of 170-190 miles in this type of driving, but I would almost always stop for gas before a shift if I was over 120 miles on that tank at my preferred station. Typically 4-5 stops a week doing that, and I would usually go in for coffee, gum, or whatever passed for a semi-healthy breakfast too if I was running late.

In the same type of driving, the C goes 370-400 miles on a single tank, so 4-5 stops / week has been reduced to 1.5 stops / week (3 every 2 weeks). I don't really like going into gas station stores anyway to be honest. I always seem to have someone in front me playing scratch-offs at the counter, paying with coins, buying a money order, wanting to see every flavor of vodka and cigar they sell, or talking forever with the clerk. Urban stores can be really sketch at night too. Just a waste of time and money I am now realizing I don't miss at all.

    1. There are many....MANY more sack-and-robs (gas stations that sell drinks, snacks, etc....) these days than there were when I started driving

    2. Cars probably get at least double the fuel efficiency....probably close to triple.

    3. Every time some thieving, lying, heartless politician starts carping about fuel taxes they always point out that fuel tax revenues are dropping because everybody is driving more fuel efficient vehicles.

    4. Sex is lots of fun! This helps to ensure a positive population growth. More drivers.

    5. Amazon does not deliver fuel or cold drinks (yet) and there are less than 500 Whole Food Stores in the US.

    6. POT is probably going to be legal in the 40-45 most populous states soon.

    7. Commuting times and distances seem to be getting longer according to my most recent glance at the interwebs.

    So......
    Nope!
I'm thinking that they are going to continue to build petrol stations, and as a matter of fact once the EV charging stations start scaling up to replace them, folks THERE are going to get the munchies TOO! (see #6)
