You madman! Though it looks like the PWR meter on the far right is not maxed out, which I assumed would have been.

I think the fastest I've gone in my Prius was around 85mph (136kph)

The power meter is not maxed out because the prius is limited. So it will throttle back by itself when it reaches top speed.

    90-95mph, rarely though. 95 highest I’ve gone.

My general cruising speed here is 70 mph indicated on 65mph posted highways. At that speed, I'm usually passing plenty of people, we drive slow up here. :D

I've had it up to about 90 when I've driven down I-95 to North Carolina. Feels fine at that speed but it's definitely not MPG-friendly :)

81 mph, down the grapevine drop northbound. Great for mpg efficiency, 99mpg for 25 minutes straight.

Wow, a lot of speed demons in this thread. Not to say I don't like a good quick car (My old '91 Capri did 147mph... once...) but damn. Cruise at 90mph in a 70 zone? That ain't worth the $250 ticket and +$100/month for insurance to save ten minutes, least not for me.

Anyways. Depends on if I'm in a hurry or not. Hurry? 4mph over the limit. Not? 1mph under. Average, that is. I'll usually speed up going down hills and slow down going up them to help fuel economy (never let the car get more than 4mph under the limit tho, that's just asking for trouble).

Oh, and for all you speed demons? I like to pass trucks when I'm going about 0.1mph faster.

That mentality is down right dangerous! For you and the truck driver.

Normally drive 70-75 MPH on New England highways. Will drive 5 MPH faster while passing large trucks while in the left most lane.

For the record, I've hit 90+ in the Prius.:D

I normally drive my Gen 1 at 70 mph for the gas mileage. 75 mph when I'm in a hurry - not very often. Usually speed up 5 mph to pass. Had it up to 90 mph so far - it could have gone faster. Kind of handles squirrelly at high speeds with my thin tires. This is an old car and I don't want to stress it too much.

This engine doesn't blow up even if you hold it at redline til the tank runs dry. But the electronics get too hot and will switch to a lower power mode, limiting engine rpm to what sounds like 4,500. I know this from pulling my race bikes to tracks all over the southeast so much. But if no trailer temps are fine and you can run it all day, all night, wtfo.

I used to race motorcycles on road courses. What's fast to you is idling to me.

First of all, I agree with you for the most part. I'm usually at or 5 mph over the highway speed limit. But lots of speed demons in this thread? Not likely. The Prii are usually the slowest cars on the road, to where I'll try not to follow one, especially on suburban roads.

I'd imagine there to be really crazy posts with a similar thread in the Mustang, Challenger, etc... forums. I drive from Vegas to Southern California often and see a lot of speed demons. In 14 years, I've only seen 1 Prius driving faster than 85 mph out of the many cars that reach that speed.

I prefer to drive the speed limit, I prefer not to engage with the police state.... police.

If I want a thrill, I trot or gallop a horse downhill in the woods off trail.

Or I alpine snowboard race, my Nastar is 7, 4 on skis, that’s 4% slower than the national pacesetter on that course, that day.

Or I go for a three or four hour road bicycle ride.

If I did that drive I might get a car capable of higher speeds just to get that drive done a little bit quicker

The 183km/h is true OBD2/GPS max. speed.

The regular speedometer shows 194km/h on 215/45 17" tyres.

I'm one of the slowest on the road. I've only hit 89 mph indicated on my Prius, which is probably something like 85-86 mph actual. That was gliding downhill, totally off power. I'm not sure what the speed limit was, but there were 85 mph zones in places in my drives cross country.

I'm just joking about the truck thing (because that's the stereotype, isn't it?) And yeah, I've hit 90+ in my Prius, too. But I'd never make that my normal cruising speed.
