On the second day after I received my 2018 Prime, I noticed an electronics module sitting on the floor of on the driver side. Underneath there were some more exposed electronics like this piece had separated from the one plugged in underneath. When I showed it to the tech, and foreman, they had no idea what it was. However, I mentioned that it looked like some sort of cell phone radio circuit. They decided to call the dealer that had the car before they did. It turns out that this dealer the car puts trackers in their cars in case they get stolen. This tracker had evidentally self-destructed and fallen on the floor. After figuring it out, we all had a good laugh.

Unfortunately, I left it with the techs. It was cube shaped about 1x1x1/2 inch in size. There was a sim card in a socket and what looked like bar type antenna. It has a small plug socket that matched the socket in the module that was still plugged into the car. The key evidence, to me, that it was non standard was that there was no evidence of a nice enclosure. It also had the label Taoglas on a white square disk that was embedded on the module.

Maybe the dealer was going to steal the car.

if it was a tracker and they could actively track the location of your car you probably have a good privacy suit. YES they can track you through entune, but you AGREE to that. This is the dealer tracking you which I'm sure you didn't agree to.

I am convinced that the dealer I bought the car from was totally ignorant about the module. It was installed by the previous dealer that had the car. In any case, the module self-destructed on its own within a couple of days. If I had been pulled over by the police because of the module, some litigation might be in order. Honest mistake, no harm.
