Just picked up an 04 prius, love it, AC problems

    Hello I'm new to the forum. Just came here to learn everything I can about the prius because I think these will be the cars I stick with from now on.

    My AC doesn't work. I've done some searching here and learned how to retrieve the codes and I'm looking to see if someone can help me diagnose the problem. I believe the compressor comes on, low side pressure is too high according to a cheap gauge. Codes read as follows

    13
    00
    64
    72

    I am leaning toward the AC amplifier being the problem. Does anyone care to chime In? The only other problem is my voice navigation does not work, I'm not sure how to resolve it as I've not found any clear answers here. Thanks for any info you can give, and thanks for an awesome forum. I've learned so much here already before I even signed up!

    To save some trouble, the pdf I have says

    Code 00 normal

    13 open/short to evap temp sensor circut

    74 a/c inverter malfunction

    62 open/short room humiity
    Sensor circut.

    For 13 and 62 both say it' the sesnro, the harness going to the amplifier or the amplifier itself. Code 74 I can't find any information for.

    You should look into picking up a Prius compatible code reader, many here use the 'mini-vci' cable ($20) with a laptop that runs techstream.

    You don't really need the Mini-VCI for codes in this case, as you've already retrieved those the easy way. Where it could help you would be the ability to watch live data. For example, it would let you watch the compressor RPM and confirm your thoughts about whether it's running or not. You could also watch the values shown for evap temperature and cabin humidity to see if they look reasonable, given that you have codes for those sensors.

    Can you reconfirm what codes you actually have? You wrote 13, 64, 72 in one post, and 13, 74, 62 in the next.

    If you do, in fact, have a code for the A/C inverter (which, in a Gen 2, is located in the main inverter box, and supplies power to the compressor), that would certainly explain the A/C not being cold, and the low-side pressure not being low.
