My contract ID starts with "1-", did you try to enter the ID with and without the "-" both ways and see if it makes any difference? Sorry I don't remember if I entered mine with or without the "-".

Hey guys, might be a silly question....but if I buy a brand new 2017, do the warranties lapse a year of coverage since it’s an earlier model? Or do the 36 or 60 months worth of coverage, whatever they may be, start on the day of purchase? Might be confused because I was looking at used CPO cars for a bit.

Looking to pull the trigger on one soon! Any thoughts of a prime premium 2017, 10k down, 310 a month for 72 months at 1.9%? I’m located in the Pacific Northwest and incentives aren’t nearly as good as the east coast. Thanks!

Warranty on new cars start on the day of purchase.

That's a bad deal for a Premium at $10k down and $310 for 72 months. You're essentially paying MSRP plus interest. Does your state have a Toyota rebate?

It may be cheaper to purchase one from an east coast dealer and have it shipped to you. Get your financing through a credit union and take advantage of the $4500 to $5000 cash rebate on the east coast. Dealerships are giving around $3000 to $4000 discount if you're shopping around.

The warranties all start on the day of purchase. As far as your deal goes I am not sure. I do know you can probably save money by buying the car and having it shipped to you with a $5,000 rebate on the Primes in the north east.

Looks like there may be 3, 2 others plus myself, interested in a group purchase to leverage deeper discounts here in So Cal. Please reach out to me if you would like to get in on this.

For 2018's it's $500 cash back. This 2017 offer is at a $1500 rebate. I'm in Seattle, our sales tax is 10%.I could drive an hour away, where their sales tax is 6.5% in state, but they only have 2018s with the $500 incentive. Seattle/Washington seems like one of the worst places to find good deals on these haha

Yes, that's why we flew from WA to RI! And since when you buy out of state, the Sales/Use Tax is calculated at your residence, and I am in a low tax enclave near Seattle, we did get a lower tax rate than the dealers nearest me could offer as well. So by traveling we got $4500 Toyota rebate, almost $4000 off the MSRP, and 8% sales/use tax.

I'll soon pick up the new Prius Prime Advanced. But I also need to negotiate the tradein price at pickup. I got a CarMax appraisal on my old car, but not sure if dealer would match or at least offer something close. What your experience? Any suggestion about how to negotiate? The new car price was already settled and I put down a refundable deposit, and told them I'll bring in tradein when I pick up the new car. Thanks for any suggestion!

Since you don't have an agreement about the trade-in ahead of time, the finance department will use a trade-in as an opportunity to restructure the deal. Also, have you already decided on how you will finance? So it is good you got a CarMax appraisal, and make sure you go to edmunds.com and kbb.com to know what trade-in and private sale values are also. The best leverage you'll have is to make it clear you are ready to walk away from the deal altogether if they don't give you an adequate trade-in value and finance arrangements.

Thanks! I don't need finance but do recognize that they might push tradein down as they felt they gave me a really good new car price (which is true, but another dealership gave something similar, and of course RI is even much lower). I read online that said dealership often offers lower than CarMax, but I wonder by how much usually? If it's too low I'll walk away from the deal and try another dealership first. And if that doesn't work, I can get new car and sell old at CarMax. Hopefully I don't have to go through that hassle. Taking a bit compromise is OK for me, but not a lot.

Do you mind sharing which dealership you're getting the car from and the price? I'm in NJ as well.

Please do yourself a favor and reach out to Jim Coleman Toyota in Maryland. This is true especially if you have a trade. I sent them pictures, and we agreed to the numbers over the phone and via text. After driving 7 hours to get there, they were straight up with me— no issues whatsoever. Even though they “only” have a $3000 Toyota rebate, they came off the sticker another $3500 and gave me top dollar for my trade.

Sorry—I was on a computer that froze up and it posted the blank response. I will correct it now that I’m home.

    $500 rebate.

Net (before other accesories, and tax. No dealer charges)
    $28398

Note that I got the price through the Costco car purchasing program. There did not seem to be much negotiating room on the 2018 Premiums. The 2017 Advanced and to a lessor extent the 2018 Advanced were much more plentiful.

They probably pushed me down about $500 on the trade-in but I was basically happy with the deal. Also, the process was fairly respectful and pleasant.
