I just picked up my new 2017 "Classic Silver Metallic" Prime Premium last week, and finally got around to spending some time with it and washing it over this past weekend.

I noticed in the sunlight that the paint color of the charging port is "off" against the body of the color. I thought that maybe it was just the way the sunlight was hitting the car, so I went out later that evening and noticed the same. The color of the panel is shade or two off from the rest of the car - it's more grey than silver.

I realize that the charging port material is different than the sheet metal of the car, but that's not a good excuse for a color difference that is this prominent.

It's clearly It's one of those things that once you see it, you cant un-see it.

Anyone else have this same issue with their car? Maybe it's a Silver Metallic thing?

I am going to try and NEVER see this condition on my 2017 Prius Prime "Classic Silver Metallic" but it may make plugging the charger in more difficult with my eyes covered.

I just went out to look at mine. It is the exact same color as the rest of the car.

It sounds like there was body damage that was repainted. It may very well have happened before it got to the dealership, so they know nothing about it. These things happen. The cars are trucked from the factory to the waterfront. Driven onto the ship...the Japanese drivers I've seen loading car carriers drive like frustrated Formula 1 dropouts. Lashed down on the ship by longshoremen. At the destination port they're unlashed. Driven off & parked. Loaded on trucks. Unloaded at the dealership. Maybe transferred to another dealership. No telling where a scratch may have occurred.

I too agree with the idea it was pre delivery repaint from transport damage.
There are mil thickness paint tools to inspect for the possibility of a repaint.

What can you do to un-see?
Complain and ask for warranty repaint.
(Silver is hard to match and you want a "butt" match with only the cover painted no blending.)
Wrap in in a matt black color.
    Chrome it!

    Good luck.
