An independent shop should be able to repair a problem like this.

For DTC B1807/52, the manual says the detection condition is “Center airbag sensor receives a short to ground signal from the front passenger side squib circuit for 0.5 seconds.” That could be a wiring problem, but it’s probably not just a loose connector, which would typically register as an open.

The manual has a troubleshooting procedure. Some steps call for a supplemental restraint system (SRS) check wire (Toyota part number 09843-18060, now 09843-18061), a 2.1 Ω resistance to be connected in place of the airbag squib when making certain checks. This is used because the small current from an ohmmeter might otherwise be enough to fire the squib; never try to measure the resistance of a squib directly.

If you choose to do it yourself, be sure to read and follow the other safety instructions in the PRECAUTION section under Airbag System. For example, unless the manual directs otherwise, you should disconnect the negative (–) battery terminal and then wait at least 90 seconds before working on airbag/SRS parts or wiring.

The troubleshooting procedure could help you determine whether the problem is in the front passenger airbag assembly, center airbag sensor assembly, or one of the wire harnesses, but it doesn’t tell you exactly how to inspect and repair a wire harness. There are general instructions for this in Toyota’s Wire Harness Repair Manual (PDF), but if you don’t have much experience with wiring (making measurements with a digital multimeter, replacing connectors and terminals, etc.), it might be better to let someone else do it.
