Until the Hybrid LE sold over 5% of all 2018 Camrys they could be considered outliers since they are all grouped together.

Lifetime is at 53 MPG displayed now. This roughly translates to about 50 even at the pump.

The poor car got its first bath this weekend.

This tank is looking pretty good at 66 MPG displayed so far. That might translate to 62 or 63 at the pump.

Thanks, that was with just enough AC to take the edge off.

Later the same day the whole family took a trip. The kid asked for AC before he was even buckled in. The car cooled down without ever starting which was kinda "cool". The trip with full time was more like 55MPG but much more comfortable.

Nice. A general rule of thumb you'll sometimes see mentioned here is that if you're uncomfortable with the temperature, so is the battery. Don't be afraid to run the A/C.

The car is not garage kept so it gets very hot just sitting in the driveway. I understand that he battery is not under load but it is getting plenty warm.

Yup. They get screamin' hot in the sun, which is hard on the battery, too. Lots of us use sun screens at least on the front if not front and back if we can't park in the shade.

BTW, I'm really enjoying reading about your experiences with the new HyCam. (y)

A terrible run into work today has the tank under 66 MPG for the first time. Had bad luck with the lights and then a funeral caused the traffic to be all crazy.

My wish is for my eventual death to inconvenience as few people as possible and I don't mean just traffic. Hopefully my family will be provide for and/or will be able to take care of itself. I'd rather there not be a death parade but if it makes someone feel better so be it.

The weekends have been hard because I don't subject the entire family to a car without AC. A couple good runs have the tank back above 66 MPG, barely.

You should not subject your traction battery to a car without AC either. The cabin air cools the battery.

+1 to what @Prodigyplace said. Treat your battery like you'd treat your wife. Or should treat her anyway. I know some people I shouldn't say that to. :(

And if you ignore, prepare to divorce ;) (replace the battery)

Thanks for the concern. It is still spring and isn't that hot yet. The AC will see plenty of use in the Summer...
