Well we've lost one of our valiant Preservers Of The Hydrocarbons (POTH), I believe it was PriusPrime7508, who had been leading the Eco Dashboard performance a week or two ago. He and his Prime probably have succumbed to Gasoline Gobbles, leaving that Denizen of the Dark, the Ecstatic Escargot, Le PrimeSnail, to forge ahead alone, with his sheep, sunshine and rainbows, oranges, in the forest!
Have you seen that S Car go!!

17 days into this month and I have not used a drop of gas. Ranked #1 and 4th on the rankings … and still no sun or rainbow.

Finally got my rainbow and sun back today. It disappeared the 1st if the Month. Fuel consumption ranking still 1st with a lot of others and eco driving I’m sitting at 48th.

Mr. benagi & Mr. huskers, I wonder if there is either a daily average mileage, or absolute mileage that must be reached to receive the rainbow and sun "awards" on the Eco Dashboard? My Eco "percent" is currently only about 83, yet I've had the "R&S" from about the first week of May. Le PrimeSnail has traversed a ton of kilometres!

Somebody needs to find the manual for this stuff or write one. Could be a best seller.

    Mr. huskers,
You're currently averaging 20 miles/day, whereas Mr. benagi, who just got his S&R, is averaging 25 miles per day. Could this be the threshold? Mr. H at 345 total miles on/about May 17, while Mr. B is at 410 total miles, same date; another threshold? But who's obsessive about playing Eco Dashboard!!??

So I just need to drive around the block for 5 miles worth? I'm on it. (could be embarrassing waving to my neighbors that many times..."Bob, there he goes again".)

(Damn, now I can't get that Kermit the Frog song "The Rainbow Connection" out of my head.)

I'm sorry Mr. huskers, Kermit says you'd have to drive 5 (miles)×18 (days) more to bring your average up, and that's assuming that my theory of a minimum 25 miles per day average to get Sunshine and Rainbows, is correct.

May 31st. Time to round those sheep up for market. I have not used a drop of gas in May. My #s are great and yes, I am bragging.

How did you get your drive score to 98?

I use the ECO Accelerator Guide (p. 213). I also drive in ECO mode and chose routes that don't have heavy traffic or high speeds, unless I need to. Most of the time, I don't need to with planning. It's "easier" if you are in EV mode, but I've learned to do it in HV mode as well (it's harder) The majority of my drives score between 97 and 99, but I've had some really bad ones too due to traffic.

The key is to remember the total ECO score is comprised of 3 segments, Acceleration, cruise, and deceleration. Blow any one of these badly and you're in the 70's or below. You get "one" chance to get the acceleration and deceleration right then they stay set and can't be further influenced. The cruise portion can be increased some with careful driving if it gets set a bit low.

It's a game that many blow off, but what they don't get is this little game teaches you how to drive efficiently even when you don't watch the guide. Having done it for months, I can get good scores without looking at it. Keep in mind, I hypermiled my 2010 for 7 years achieving so high mpgs and long distances on one tank of gas so I was already experienced.

Don't do this if you are in traffic. Safety first.

Mark57 makes an excellent point about the ECO Dashboard game being an engaging teaching tool to help learn efficient driving habits.

I drove my Prius entirely in EV mode for six months and obsessed about the sheep, flowers and rainbow. Staying in EV wasn't easy because the six months were from November through April when cold weather diminished the battery capacity. It also frequently caused fogged-up windows and required the Prius' heat-pump.

During that period, the "Bear Mobile" consistently appeared among the top-100 vehicles on the list generated by the Toyota ECO Dashboard app.

Now that summer has come, I'm finding that the all-electric EV range is increasing from around 26 miles to as much as 35 miles. That makes local trip planning easier -- but it is offset by our taking longer trips for vacations. For example, we did a 1000-mile round trip in early May, followed by a 200-mile round trip, later in the month. Obviously, both of these excursions required running the Prime in HV mode -- and dropped the driving score enough to completely eliminate the "Bear Mobile" from the top 100 list.

Even so, I've been easily maintaining driving scores between 96 and 98 on most trips, including EV-only local trips around the areas where we were vacationing. And, because of my having become used to driving in ways that won't offend the sheep, I pretty much drive without having to give it much conscious thought.

It would appear that GOLD status can be obtained by first having an app simulator, then earning all 5 trophies and maintaining an ECO Driving score "average" of 100/100. This image is from a Toyota video simulation, but it is interesting.

I'm going to count it as a simulated Gold medal. Thank you very much for showing me that the Entune simulator can perhaps determine exactly what triggers Gold. I will be loading the simulator and playing with it soon.
