I bought the custom-fit front HEATSHIELD from the affiliated Shop soon after I bought my 2012 Prius c. It seems that the center V area (just past the rear-view mirror) sags down now---it's exactly 4" away from the windshield at the center-top of the V---more than it did when it was new (perhaps because I always store it during the summer by folding it once & placing it behind the passenger seat, making a permanent crease).
Question: Does this distance from the windshield surface significantly diminish its ability to reflect the sun's heat? Should I consider replacing it with a new one? :(

I am trying to picture what you're describing and for the life of me I cannot do it. Can you take a picture of what it looks like?

Edit... I get it now. Sorry, lack of sleep.

I imagine any gap will allow the heat in. Maybe attach a suction cup to it so that it stays on the windshield?

I don't think a sag in the middle will make much difference. The only thing between the window and the heat shield will be a small amount of air, and that small amount of air won't be able to hold a whole lot of heat. The heat shield will still be reflecting the majority of sunlight back outside of the car.

    No difference at all.
