    Hi there!

I just replaced the batteries in my two key fobs, one of which just ran out, and the other ran out a long time ago but I was too lazy to replace it. One of them now works great, and the other one is... almost there. I can use all the smart key functions (keyless entry, engine start without putting the key in the docking thing, etc.) but none of the buttons (lock, unlock, panic) actually work on the fob. Is there some way to reset this, or any thoughts on what might have happened?

    Thanks so much!

Maybe 1 of the 3 buttons is stuck.....see if they all click when you press down on them?

Interesting point ā€” the unlock and lock click, but the panic one does not...

get an exacto knife or a very sharp object and try to dislodge the button. Once it gets unstuck, your buttons will work again.

So, good and bad news ā€” I nudged the button around with my finger, and it sort of snapped back into place. The lock and unlock buttons work now! However, the red part of the other button pretty much immediately fell off, so I guess I'll have to glue it back on. Not a huge deal because I never use that button anyway, but thanks so much for the quick response! This was perfect.

Thank you. This fixed my problem. Miami just need to get a second remote and program it.

Sounds like you need a new case for your fob. They cost about $12.00, and you just move the electronics to the new case. Much easier and cheaper than programming a new remote.

Be sure to transfer the transponder chip as well as the circuit board to a new case.

My housing was replaced by the prior owner and apparently he forgot to swap the chip. I have a SKS fob so it still starts but if the battery dies in the fob Iā€™m screwed. Anyone have a source I can buy the chip from that never got swapped to the new housing?
