Happy with the car if I don't focus on maxing the fuel economy all the time. Short trips and the warm-ups is definitely what I don't escaping from. I never tried it before but I did the 30 mph mileage check the other day with a reset of the A-trip and was absolutely amazed watching the mpg climb into the 90 mpg range. It was hell with traffic at times though and when I went down a grade it pegged at 99.9 mpg. I did another test at 55 mph averaging 67 mpg (round-trip test). Both speeds/mpg's were a little better then a speed/mpg chart I found a long time ago on Prius Chat for the 2010 Prius.

If there is any sore point for me in all this its that the EPA/DOT of 50 combined/51 city/48 highway just sucks! As far as I'm concerned city is 41 and highway is 67. It's hard to go lower then 41 for very long and if you see higher when warmed up all the better. Anyone ever complain about their mpg being higher then the EPA rating?

Quick way to increase mileage a little bit is to put more air in the tyres. I think the door placard calls for too little air. I run 40 PSI front and 38 PSI rear. Inflate when "cold" (before driving more than a few blocks). Or, if that's not possible, check the pressure when cold, then add -some- air when you get to where it is available if the reading was "low". Then check again next morning. Repeat as required. Note that when the tyre warms up from driving the pressure will rise, sometimes alarmingly. It's normal. Don't deflate a warm tyre because the pressure is higher than you think it should be. Wait until it is "cold" again and check the pressure.

After replacing the worn out suspension parts so I could get a proper alignment and new tires I've had 46 and 47mpg with my 04 238,000 miles in last two tanks.
