05 MFD question

If I were in this situation, I’d pay $15 for a 2 day subscription to techinfo.toyota.com and have a look at the wiring diagrams and connectors and see what’s the same or different.

I’m sure it an be done, just not sure what else you’d have to adapt to make it work.

But the $15 you’d spend would help with that assessment .

Nav units have a different steering wheel and controllers too. Also, it's old DVD tech with no updates and modern phones/apps are WAY better.

 

Most likely no. The electrical connectors on the back of the unit are typically different for each model MFD. Many times the differences are subtle. IE...they may both have a 16 pin connector, but the small alignment tab or slot will be located in a different position, preventing the plug from fitting.

Take a look on ebay for each model. There will probably be plenty of photos that you could compare, but I'm going to stick with "No".

 

I only recollect one person recently who was a go-getter type that did this just out of interest, as retrofitting was he was into, and did it just because.

I can only suggest you use google to search this site, as it does a better job with fewer key words.

I don't think you will find anyone to hold your hand on this one, sorry, it is just not something anyone cares to do anymore given modern options available.
