Today I took my rear bumper off for the first time to check for an issue (turns out my Passenger Side Rear Bumper Cover Retainer is broken), and I saw that an air duct ventilator was looking questionably worn (see attached picture)[IMG].

I'm looking to replace this part. I found the part on Amazon that seems to fit the description I found on a Toyota-part-searching website. Interestingly enough, Amazon says it would only fit a 2009-2012 Prius, however it looks exactly like mine, so I'm assuming it'll would fine.

Does anyone know how to install this air duct? While I was inspecting it earlier, it seemed like it was held in place by an adhesive, but Amazon gave me no indication that any form of adhesive would be included with my purchase.

So you need the vent for right side (passenger side in USA)? Part number is 62940-16060 (DUCT ASSY, QUARTER VENT, RH) the part is same in gen 2 and gen 3 Prius and other Toyota and Lexus vehicles.

I think the part just clips in you should be able to remove it from the inside after bumper and 12V battery are removed. After those are removed you see the vent from inside. And then you should be able to unclip it.

Those clips on the sides of the bumper get brittle with age. If you pull the bumper off there gonna break.

Your battery vent looks pretty bad but looks like it has rodent damage like mouse has been chewing on it. This is very common with a prius they find the wiring on a G2 very tasty. You most likely have mice in the car. Take out the cabin filter and see if there's any rodent signs in there. Also take out the spare tire and look under there.

I bet the car is not garaged. I would check the battery fan also thats probably very dirty. You don't want that to fail it will cook the hybrid battery $$$.

You're right, the part is the same in gen 2 and gen 3! I was able to remove and replace the part all from the exterior--no need to go in from the interior. Thanks for the help!!
