    Hello

My prius 2010 model is showing a check light (image attached) from the last few days...

2 days ago i was checking its mobil oil gauge it was showing low levels. So I got worried and I immediately took the car to Mobil oil change center..the oil used was Zic 0W 30.

When the mechanic removed the oil it was just above 3L.

So as suggested by the Mechanic it was refilled with Zic 5w 20 oil this time..the reason for low Mobil oil was not troubleshooted though as there was no leak.

Now the worrying point is after changing the mobil oil the check light was vanished but today the light once again came up.

Please guide what does that light means and what has to be done.

Check the oil level first, if you haven't, top up as needed. Then get the codes read: whenever there's a check engine light there will be a stored trouble code. Generic code readers hooked up to the OBD (On Board Diagnostics) port, under the dash below near steering wheel, can read a lot of codes. ScanGuage also can. Best would be Techstream, Toyota's software. Any Toyota dealership where you are?

how many miles/km on her? many 2010's have a clogged egr which leads to oil burning around 100,000 miles.

The check engine light can be read by non Techstream software ;).

Did the mechanic do anything other than put oil in:whistle:?

Get the codes and post them here when you have them(y).

By the way its 150k driven and how important is it to change the transmission oil and do we need to check it before charging?

    Thanks.

I’d change the trans axle fluid while you were at it if it had not ever been done before;).

It’s a simple process, just make sure the Prius is level :).

No need to check the fluid as yours will be black and probably have an odor:(.

Let us know the codes when you have them (y).

Error P0172...the mechanic cleaned the MAF Sensor but it seems the issue is in faulty front heated oxygen sensor..

Mechanic shown something related to the error which was -100% sorry but I can't remember what was it.

Mechanic told to take appointment for opening the sensor as its a long process.

    Lets see.
