I brought my 05 package 6 into my local dealer for the recall service this past weekend and just for kicks, asked the sales rep what the new package 8 were going for. Since, the only difference is the leather, I was curious since my parents may be interested in another one. I got my 05 Pacakage 6 with everything for about 29k out the door. when I inquired about hte 06, the sales rep said 30,000 plus tax, which is about 33k out the door. Is this dealer out of its mind or is this pretty much the price these days for hte fully loaded 06 #8? 4 thousand premium just for the leather?

Does your '05 have the Nav and BT options, I don't know the '05's feature set.

The '06 #8 (which I own) has all the bells and whistles, nothing left off.

That's about what I paid. MSRP & tax & the extra couple of hundred for the things they tack on. You mention a 2005 Package 6. I don't know my 2005s but didn't they go up to package 9? That's the area where the high-price options pop up. Not sure we have an apple to apple comparison here. The 2006 Package 8 is "fully loaded."

The 2006 does have features the 2005 didn't, and that many members add as after market options, if they can. The leather adds about $1,500 to package 8 vs. package 7 on the 2006. I think THAT is high but it got me the car in half an hour instead of half a year.

Well, MSRP for the car (easy to find at www.toyota.com) is 29195. This includes the leather and dealer prep. I don't know what tt&l comes to at your location , or what else your dealer might be adding (like $1000 undercoating). The leather seats add about $1200 to the MSRP. A #7 in Tucson with no dealer addons was just over $30k out the door two weeks ago. #8 would have been about $31.3K.

The 05 #6 is the fully loaded one, with BT, NAV, SKS etc. As for all these so called extra features in the 06. Small mods can be made to add those features. I got a Vaistech Ipod adapter for $250 group buy last year etc. it even shows the artist and title on the display, altho i'm not sure, I dun think the 06 integrated package can do that.
The biggest addition is obviously leather. I guess I just didn't realize it cost THAT much more thats all. You're paying to have those features integrated, i ugess.

Yeah that seems a little steep. I just got my '06 last week (I'm still busting at the seems in love with it, and I expect to be for the forseeable future), everything but leather, plus the 7 yr/75k mile extended warranty all for just slightly over $30k out the door.

Pkg 8 = 29,195. ...also 06's have new headlights, taillights, dash and door panel trim in addition to the upgrades already listed by other posters.

I got a great price on both my Prii, but I do know the sales manager pretty well. I paid just about 30K for each car, sales tax, and all fees included. My 05 Pkg 6 is fully loaded with leather added by dealer, my 06 Pkg 7 is fully loaded with leather added at port. The leather was included in my price. The 06 does have a few added bells and whistles, but this did not affect MSRP ( I think)

In June, we paid MSRP for a #7. Then we requested leather seats, so they added another $1160. That brought the total up to what a #8 commands (MSRP). We were quite happy UNTIL I discovered that they used Naugahyde, instead of leather! I just verified this fact tonight. I'm gonna go stomping into my dealer tomorrow!

    Good luck,
