So my wife calls me and says she had to turn around half way to work and come home to get her Lexus because she got the Red Triangle of Death.

I can't count how many times I've told her that if that ever happens she needs to pull over immediately as soon as it's safe and shut the car down and call for a tow.

She says she didn't because she's late to work!!!!!

Really hoping that when I get home and plug my Techstream in that it's just a bad battery module because that's about the cheapest thing I can think of out of the Red Triangle that it could be:(

Red triangle can mean many things, and some less expensive than hv battery.

    1. Inverter pump
    2. Low on oil
    3. Brake issues

    Just about anything

Only problem so far is the $73 I spent to replace my coolant diverter 6 months ago. So I've gotten more than cost of the car in fuel and maintenance savings. Still, really wanted to get it to 333,333 miles.

It can't be oil. Just changed it 500 miles ago and it's only burning a quart every 2500 miles.

The brake actuator is a high probability as it's gotten to the rattlesnake noise on every press vs the normal every other press. Those run $2 to $3 hundred on ebay with short warranties.

I’m actually impressed she drives a 280 k mile Prius when a Lexus IS available:).

    Well trained it sounds like:love:.

Friend of mine paid a dealer $150 to diagnose the triangle of death. It was a defective gas cap...

That's a shame given an Elm327 dongle is only $15. Heck even a Mini VCC is only $35.

So it turns out it was a false alarm. It wasn't an exclamation in a red triangle. It was an exclamation in the flat tire light. It was yellow, not red and it was one she's seen at least a dozen times in the last 10 years not just on the Prius but other cars that have the exact same symbol.

I'm sure I'd be exasperated over that if I was in your shoes. But I'm not, so I'm chuckling to myself. Sorry about that. Hopefully, you'll be able to laugh soon, too. ;)
