    sounds guilty to me, contradicts himself, should be an interesting court case, i hope we get there.

    'millions of dollars of waste' and 'lying to investors' sounds more like he's getting paid by someone, rather than whistle blowing, or saving the world.

    I have a feeling this guy was hard to work with. Knew his job enough to not get fired for incompetence, but probably thought he was better than his peers and probably bragged about it at work constantly.

    Gets reassigned, gets upset about it, then gets passed on a promotion he felt he was entitled to, and decides to start screwing with his company as much as possible including sending company trade secrets to outside sources. Which is kind of odd considering Tesla released all their patents a few years ago?

    Gets caught in the act, and then tries to play the victim and/or whistle blower. Which hill alluded to in post #14 that whistle blowing only works if you're also not sabotaging the company and selling off intellectual property.

    So I doubt it's someone being paid by Big Oil or a rival automaker. Most likely just a disgruntled employee who felt his contributions were being passed up by others.

    Tripp began presenting his version of the events to multiple media outlets. Tripp said he had never made any threats, telling the Washington Post that the claim was “absurd” and “insane.” He also claimed that he had been leaking information to reporters but never tampered with any operating systems, and thus identifies as a “whistleblower” rather than a saboteur. Tripp accused Tesla of placing faulty batteries that had been punctured by a haywire robot into 732 Model 3 sedans, and had provided internal documents to Business Insider for a report that came out in early June. “The data I was collecting was so severe, I had to go to the media,” he told CNN. (Tesla has maintained that it discarded the damaged batteries.) Tripp also alleged that Tesla has been inflating its Model 3 production numbers and storing scrap in an unsafe manner.

    sounds like a total whack job. what a trip.

    a whistle blower does two things. 1) report illegal activity, 2) document it.

    Martin Tripp makes two claims that are not in the Tesla suit that bear comment:

    "faulty batteries that had been punctured by a haywire robot into 732 Model 3" Had Tripp reported the VIN numbers to NHTSA or other safety organizations, his credibility would have some standing. So far, no tear-down has showed the damaged cells in a car, it is a rumor.

    "storing scrap in an unsafe manner" It is easy to contact the local fire marshal so they can inspect and document the problem. So far, no evidence of that being attempted.​

    Like Snowden, Manning, Hanson, e.t.c., he broke faith with his employer and admitted it in public. So I have very little sympathy. Worse, he failed to share his concerns with the proper authorities which eviscerates these claims.

    I resigned several times:
    1. Unpaid, extra work - a new supervisor assigned us extra duties without compensation. I tried to negotiate with co-workers and management and when they turned me down, I found a new job three months later and left.
    2. Black world divorce - my new wife was unable to tolerate me not talking about work. Counter-offer to change operating systems in the white world appealed to ego so I stayed.
    3. Supervisor personality conflict - when my stomach began to hurt, I found another job. Counter-offer moved me to operations from troubled development group.
    4. End of project, time to move on - with parts of the project going to another contractor, I found another employer. Allowed to start selling a new product so I stayed.
    5. End of project, time to move on - with project moving to on-site integration and test, my wife wants to stay in Huntsville. Changed employment to stay in Huntsville.
    6. Moved from technical to proposal work - found employment in Huntsville and returned to technical supervision.
    7. Supervisor personality conflict - found network engineering job and never looked back.
    It would have been anathema to compromise my prior work and technical skills. In contrast, Martin Tripp appears to be taking his frustration personal and in complete disregard for any skills he might have once held. He could have sought a different position or another employer. Instead, he broke faith which means he has become toxic.

    Well ------ he's not doing it for free, thats for sure.
    I have nothing to gain or loose personally however this issue unravels.
    How China gets what it wants from American companies
    I've read that American Companies that setup shop in China currently have to partner with a Chinese firm. When I read that a year or 2 ago the emphisis of the article was on the Companies ablility to keep it's technology from being stolen, amongst other concerns.
    Most likely non of or very few of those concerns favored the Amercian Companies, except access the foriegn market.

He doesn’t object to short selling in principle, but believes that there is something more sinister at work here: ordinarily speculators take short positions because they legitimately believe a company is in trouble. However, Jesse believes that most of the 40 million shares, or over $12 billion dollars, currently betting against Tesla are controlled by raiders who are out to bring the company down by stirring up FUD and triggering a self-reinforcing downward spiral.

    . almost 'nuf said ..... maybe also add, only 200 miles range (80% quick charged) ?? ...... and that gets you out there in the middle of no recharging infrastructure. Thank you Daimler Mercedes but call me when you build your 1st charging stall. That might be half an indicator as to whether you're just trying to deflect what's coming down your profit Center at lightspeed.
