hey guys, I've owned my 2010 Prius IVs for about a week now and I'm loving it. Averaging 51mpg on my way to and from work. The only huge issue I have is comfort. I've been having neck pain every single day since driving it. I've repositioned the seats, I've done the 'bending the headrest back' trick and nothing seems to work. I literally have a headache and neck pain after driving for an hour each way. I have a feeling it may be because the arm rest and door rest are too low that I'm resting my elbows on, hence straining my neck/trap area. Has anyone found this to be an issue ? Has anyone beefed up these arm rests for a solution? As you can ImGine this is incredibly annoying! I'm 6'1 btw and I have leather interior already. Any help?

I’m 6 foot and don’t experience it and have had our 2010 for almost 9 years:).

    Some questions:
    • What is the seat height adjustment?
    • Do you have it on the lowest setting?
    • Are you a two hands on the wheel driver most of the time or single handed?
    • How close to the wheel do you sit?
    • What is your normal posture when driving?
    • What was your car before?
All of these questions will help provide some insight ;).

Hope you feel better and keep us posted (y).

Remove the headrest by pulling it up and turning it around, insert backwards. @RMB does this, very innovative.

Forgot, neck pillow with strap to tie/velco around the headrest rails for back neck support.

I've tried the highest lowest and everything in between settings.
I sit medium length I would say.
I drive usually with one hand on lower left and lean my arm on window sill or arm rest. But I switch it up during the drive.
I had a 2015 sonata before and an Infiniti m35. The sonata had the same issue but eventually I found the sweet spot. The Infiniti was incredible. Both had active adjustable headrest and power seats.

I haven't tried this yet, but not sure it will help anything. I'll give it a shot. It not hopefull as the strain is from shoulder and neck.

    Did you try this?
Somewhere here, there's a thread where someone made a foam piece that he wedged between the driver's seat and the center console that came up higher than the console armrest. That won't help your left arm, but I tried it and it helped on a long trip to Ohio and back.

Another thing that could help with the neck pain, depending on the cause of it, is to lean the seat back farther if you can do that and still have comfortable leg and arm distances. I have a friend with a car that forces your head so far forward that you can't even look out of the windshield without reclining the seat quite a bit. The Prius headrests have that tendency, too, but not as extreme, so the pain can creep up on you.

I bent the headrest posts back so the headrest didn’t just out so far. Still the same issue.
I haven’t found an armrest solution on this forums just yet.

I can't find it either. It must be buried in a thread about something else.

This one works for me, but it needed to be bolted to the console:

I guess I'm really a cheapskate. I'm pretty tall, so to raise the center armrest height I just placed a folded up towel on top of it. Done.
