DICE with iPod 3rd gen does not resume

I installed the DICE in my 04 Prius with Nav/BT/JBL CD changer. I'm using a 3rd gen (touch wheel with 4 bottons above them) with it. I've heard and confirmed that holding down the up and dow track select button on either the radio or the steering wheel does not ffwd or rwd the iPod, it just go to the next/prev track. I also noticed that after I turn off the car, and then start the car the next time, the iPod is always paused at where I left off, it says PAUSE on the MFD, and there doesn't seem to be a way to resume iPod playing. I have to hit either up or down a track to make it play. and it plays the next/prev song from the top. It's OK with songs, but when I'm playing a long MP3 (such as a 1hr WaitWaitDon'tTellMe podcast), if I turn off the car 20 minutes into it, without the resume or the ffwd/rwd, I have no way except to listen to the 20 minutes again to get to where I was. Is there a better way to use it with the 3rd gen iPod? How does it work with the newer iPod that can ffwd/rwd? And lastly, what does the iPod do when you switch the car radio mode from iPod to and from another source such as radio? Ideally I would prefer it to pause and resume, but mine does not seem to do that, it just keeps playing on.

dip switches set to DICE mode as shipped, I can switch tracks and playlists with no problem. Any other ideas?

I thought so as well. I've pretty given up to make the 3rd gen to work properly with the DICE since these seems to be the way it is. Since I've been thinking about upgrading to newer models anyway, I'd like to know the behavior of the newer generation iPods with the DICE:

When you switch from iPod (CD changer 2) to other source (AM, FM, CD changer 1, etc), does the iPod pause?

When you switch back to iPod from the other source, does iPod resume automatically?

When you turn off the radio, does iPod pause?

When you turn the radio on again, does iPod resume?

Are all the newer generation iPods behaving the same way (4th gen, video iPod, etc)

Thanks all, I just played with my friend's Nano in my car, it works just as I expect it to, pausing and resuming correctly. I think I'm on my way to get a black video iPod, I think I'll need a 60GB, but the 30GB is so thin... but I guess that's for a different forum.
