Had to replace my 2012 Prius C thanks to a car accident. I took delivery of my new 2018 Prius Two yesterday and twice since I paired it with my iPhone X the head unit has appeared to crash and rebooted. Any thoughts or ideas on how to correct the problem?

This will not be the answer that you want to hear, but, replace the head unit. I went to a Alpine head unit with Android Auto/CarPlay capability and could not be happier with my car. My Prius is a 2017 Four Touring and I’ve had this issue since the day I bought the car, up until I replaced the head unit. Toyota makes a great car, but their head units are unforgivable. Luckily they did not make it too difficult to replace. I did the install myself and everything is working. Backup camera pops up on the new head unit without fail, and the steering controls work perfectly.

I had this issue, but had the software update flashed at the dealership and it was resolved.

I saw another thread where people are talking about not being able to use the backup camera. Were you able to keep all the steering wheel controls and such as well? Which unit did you get?

So I was having this issue on a daily basis. I work out of my car and stream audio from Pandora/Spotify. My head unit would automatically reboot when I either made a call or received a call. So I started experimenting. I removed the Entune app, but the issue continued. Then I stopped streaming audio and just listened to the radio. As soon as I did that, the reboots stopped. Did not have one reboot in the two weeks of using the FM radio. The following week I went back to streaming and as soon as I got a call, the head unit would reboot. I don’t know if it is something with my iPhone X that causes this issue. But if I don’t use streaming audio, I have no issues.

It would be nice if either Apple or Toyota would work on this and find a fix.

I have a 2015 Prius V 4 with the entune navigation suite. It worked fine for the first three years I have had it since purchasing it in 2015. Recently if I connect my Samsung note 8 to it via bluetooth it will sometimes work fine briefly and then restart or work fine until another function takes place in tandem with audio like maps or receiving a call upon which it restarts itself. I drive in a very busy traffic congested area of the country and absolutely need the hands free option.
    Steps I have taken:
    1. all basic troubleshooting (restarting the phone, app, car)
    2. Software update from the dealer
Dealer stated next step was to replace the whole radio head unit. pricing it out for me at 6k including labor
    3. Complaing via twitter to toyota corporate (who is aware of the issue but calls it a localized event to a minority of user)
absolute BS because all the blogs I have read would say different.
    4. I now have the price to replace it but haven't followed through with corporate yet to see if they were going to pay it or not. (they claim its not a campaign or recall so users would have to eat the cost)
    5. Almost ready to explore third party head units and/or getting rid of the whole vehicle.
    6. I was raised with the notion that Toyota was a good company with reliable vehicles (my vehicle works fine minus the head unit which is now a very expensive radio.)
