Does anybody know what these 2 codes lead to? I recently had my ac compressor changed and after a week of driving these 2 codes came up and the mechanic said it might be the inverter. Since the car is a 2016 he isn’t to familiar with that gen as he works more on all other prius’s. Car is salvage so can’t take to dealer for warranty. Has 14k miles and is the (2). Thanks in advance everyone.

This is the monitor, unfortunately I didn’t take a picture with the second code but it was a similar description but mentioned A/C.

@JC91006 although his shop is dedicated to hybrids is it possible for him to use the wrong oil? Or is the Generation 4 requiring different oil? The ac blows very cold air with no problem.

If it's a hybrid shop, then they should know to use the right oil.

You have a high voltage leak somewhere. Inverter, ac, transaxle, battery

A dealer would charge a lot of money to run this problem down. Being this car is salvage, the seller may have changed many parts to this car, including the battery

As @JC91006 kindly notes, using an oil without the required insulating properties is one possible cause; another, as @bisco mentions, is damage to wiring or connectors.

As with all diagnostic trouble codes, there are detailed troubleshooting procedures in Toyota’s Repair Manual, available by subscription to techinfo.toyota.com. The text and illustrations from the manual are also in the ChiltonLibrary service, to which the Los Angeles Public Library provides access to its patrons free of charge.

For P1C7C49, Hybrid/EV Battery Voltage System Isolation (A/C Area) Internal Electronic Failure, Toyota writes, “This DTC is stored if there is insulation malfunction in the high-voltage circuit in the air conditioning system. Possible causes are poor insulation in the compressor with motor assembly, or mixing of any oil other than ND-OIL 11 in the refrigerant cycle.”

For P0AA649, Hybrid/EV Battery Voltage System Insulation Resistance Decreased, there are many possible causes, including the same problem as P1C7C49. There are two versions of the troubleshooting procedure for this code; for the Prius Two, the version for cars with an Ni-MH battery would apply.

Yeah I see, the next is to change the inverter as recommended by the mechanic. But as I mentioned even he’s un sure of it fixing the issue. I’m going to look into researching in the library as recommended I can just access the website or Ian there certain links for accessing the information? Thank you guys for the help!

Go to the page I linked above—Chilton Library | Los Angeles Public Library—click the Chilton Library link, and enter your Los Angeles Public Library card number and PIN. If you don’t have a library card, you can get an e-card online if you live in the City of Los Angeles, or get one in person at any LAPL branch if you live elsewhere in California. On the Chilton Library site, select 2016 Toyota Prius, click Repair, and then search for P1C7C49.

    That’s a good question.

The ChiltonLibrary database (also “Chilton Library”—they spell it both ways!) is produced by Gale, a subsidiary of the Cengage publishing company, who pays automakers for the right to republish their service information, compiles it into the database, and then sells access to public libraries on a subscription basis.

The database seems to cover only cars sold in the U.S., not right-hand drive models, for example. I don’t know if Gale’s license agreements with the automakers have any geographic restrictions or if they use IP geolocation or other technical measures to block access from overseas. Several libraries in Canada subscribe, so it’s not a strictly U.S.-only product.

For their part, the subscribing libraries are allowed to provide access to the database only to people who are physically present at the library or who are bona fide registered patrons. This is why it’s necessary to start on the library’s website and enter a borrower’s card number when accessing the database over the Internet.

In the U.S., many public libraries issue borrower’s cards without charge to anyone who applies in person and presents identification. Some also require proof of an address in the district from which the library receives tax revenue. Policies vary; some libraries are more accommodating to visitors than others, but few allow completing a registration online, and those that do—as with the LAPL e-card—often send a postcard to confirm the address.

Thanks for the help. I did send an inquiry to their customer blabla, and got an email, saying its only for the residents of that area, and does not apply to say, a foreigner.

Do you know or have any link to any of such libraries that could be of help?
