whatever shortcomings they may have seem to be improving every day. very few complaints from actual customers.

I seem to be falling at making my point, of a multi-billion-dollar worldwide company in the age of the best fit and finish and quality ever in mankind, they should never pass inspection, let alone go to a holding yard, let alone reach a customer anything less than 100%.
considering the extremely limited numbers in which they have been produced thus far, five cars with defects is too many. They've only delivered a few thousand.
I work/with/for an auto manufacturer, that puts out over 600 cars a day. They will shut the entire line down for a day, if they suspect any defect extends past one car.
Tesla's epic failures, based on their arrogance of anyone can just walk right into the mass production vehicle market are the exact reasons Apple scraped all plans of creating a car company

Sidenote, a little more related to the topic at hand. BMW plant used to use i3's for their security force. They were somewhat unreliable (mostly operator error) and cost prohibitive, and the security force couldn't stand driving them. They got road of them all last year, and now actually use Ford escapes. LOL it's very strange to see anything NON BMW driving around on the property.

i just don't understand where you are getting your information. do you have any idea how many cars tesla made in june?
why are you trying to convince me how bad they are, when their customers are elated?

Yes, I read the public reports etc
Do you know how many of those they have delivered?
Their production goals versus their production numbers are terrible they need a bunch of cars at the last minute, they have yet to pass quality, or be delivered to customers. I'm sure you're old enough to remember the movie gung ho, in the 80s, with Michael Keaton, sure, it looked like they completed 10,000 cars, but half of them had no windshields or engines LOL

All that being said, it's a moot point. I would never drive any BMW, even if it were given to me.
And the Tesla's have less than zero appeal to me. Any of the models. They are bland and soulless, IMHO.

If you stumble across a Model 3 "perpetual dealer guest," please PM me. The others won't care. <GRINS>

Good Prius friend @bisco warned me about BMW reliability. So far, the manufacturer warranty has made that a time, not a cost problem.

This coming from a Toyota salesman. But I understand, just trying to save his job. The Tesla business model is a direct threat to his livelihood. What would be more productive to protect his future is for him to hope that Toyota gets into the BEV market and really soon.

Today, Russia has assured us that they were not involved in hacking the 2016 US elections. I give their assurances and your assurances equal weight, that would be zero credibility.

Over the months, we've found crazy killer deals on the older X - auto pilot 1, paltry 60kWh traction pack. There's an EE in the Carolina's that makes good coin cracking Tesla's security, in addition to all other things tesla & solar. He'll upgrade a 60 pack to a 90, for ~ $14K.
Tesla Model X battery upgrade 60D, 75D -> 90D | eBay
That may work for us after our lease expires.
