Help me Identify this part and where to attach it.

    The first photo is from underneath the car away from the rear bumper looking upward. The second photo is the piece that is attached to the wires in the protective plastic sleeve. What is this part, what is its function, and where and how should I attach it? This is on a 2006 Toyota Prius.

    It belongs under the rear bumper cover, mounted on a long skinny bracket, centered just above the metal bumper. The bracket is fairly lightweight steel and tends to rust away on northern vehicles.

    Conveniently, I recently removed the rear bumper cover from a 2007 parts car I have. Also a very northern car. The latch mechanism in the center of the photo is the trunk lock.

    I've always just assumed it was a air bag sensor, but I'm wrong. It's a sensor for the fob as can be found in the below thread link in post 11 by Patrick Wong. Look at his attachment. Real name..."Electrical Key Antenna (Rear)"

    Looking at these photos makes me want to pull off my rear bumper cover for a little look around....
