Tesla style head unit?

    Found this 9 inch Android radio online that supposedly works for 2016 Prius so we are slowly getting there, as far as options are concerned, but further research would still be needed. Things like OEM rear camera retention and Canbus for vehicle settings etc are some of the typical questions one would have before pulling the trigger. It looks like the core Android OS for a lot of these radios from china are the same so you should be able to get an answer on the number of music files it can support.

    So for owners of 2016 and newer prius, I am working with an aftermarket head unit company in order to facilitate the production of an android car stereo system that would replace the factory entune / car stereo system work one that provides additional features while retaining the factory settings (hybrid/range display, backup camera that could also be activated on demand instead of only when vehicle is in reverse, radio controls, climate controls, etc).

    The company is unaware of how much demand there would be. So in order to get this developed into a marketable product, they need demand of at least 200, up through 500 request for order.

    If you wish to help and get one yourself after reviewing their other products, please check out Phoenix Android Radio and let them know you want a Tesla-style head unit for a Prius.

    this could be the start of something big! although, toyota is finally slipping into CarPlay and android. resistance is futile.

    The Verge just reported 8 hours ago that Toyota is ready to integrate android auto into its infotainment system. Bloomberg also made a similar report yesterday. Announcement might be coming as soon as next month with the integration. However... I am still not a fan of either as I want more features in a custom rom of Android to run those features and more.

    From what I read Toyota refused to provide Google the user data stream they requested for licensure.

    What were the reasons given why the 11.6" screen from a 2018 wouldn't work on a 2016 Prius? Was it a wiring problem only or something to do with size/shape. It's a mod I have been dreaming of for some time.
