Hey guys, I'm new to this forum so I apologize if I posted on the wrong thread.

My 05 prius that I recently bought has this weird case in which I would press on the brakes and start the car, but at times, the only thing that would appear would be the check engine light, which would flash for a couple seconds, and the MFD would come on, showing the hybrid battery SoC. If i were to press the power button and try starting the car again, the car would start just fine. I checked the 12v battery level via the little display trick and it reads normally, 12.5 volts, 12.1 when IGN on, and 14.1 volts with the car on. This happens at different times, and I notice that sometimes the car door light doesn't come on when I open the door, but it still starts up just fine. Any thoughts?

    Thank you!

It sounds to me like your stop lamp switch is not working properly.

This is the switch under by where the brake pedal lies. If it's not working properly, it won't know if you are pressing the brake. Repeat attempt would work.

Hey guys, up on further investigation, it turns out the Combination Meter is broken. It will work sometimes, but other times it'll be dead. Getting it changed at my mechanic, I'll keep you guys updated!
