Consider the coolant change required for plug-in vehicles with liquid-cooled battery-packs.

Volt requires 12 quarts for its change-cycle every 90,000 miles. Dealer cost is about $200... which I've heard is a decent price considering how messy that service can be.

Hey, if you can afford base Veyron's $1.5 million price tag, $21K is a pocket change isn't ? :p

The story makes that observation, but even as a percentage of the new car purchase price, it's a little steep.

Being a diy person, I don't think I'll buy a Veyron now that I know how much work it is to change the oil. LOL!!! :ROFLMAO:

If it is like the engine coolant, it is something you'll only need done every five years.

What part of "90,000 miles" wasn't clear?

That link isn't for gen 1. I was clearly told by an owner 90,000 to which he added sooner was preferred. He did his own at 60,000 and was the one who pointed out how messy it got.

I provided a link for the 2016 and 2012; gen 2 and 1. They both call for 5 year or 150k miles, which is the interval GM has used with since they switched to this long life coolant.

I think something most people don't realize about the INSANELY wealthy, is that it is not just the price of the things they buy and own, but also the cost of maintaining those same things.

But if you can purchase a Bugatti Veyron? Cost of ownership probably isn't something you even worry about. You go in, knowing it's going to be expensive.

I'd love a rogue youtube video where someone drives a Veyron into a Jiffy Lube for the $29.99 special, just to see what the tech's do.

Sounds like poor design to me.

But most expensive cars require a mechanic to follow you everywhere you go.

During the early part of the century, I had a friend who had a BMW M3. He told me oil changes were $500 and had to be done at a BMW dealership. It wasn't long before he traded that in for a Camry.

I have one car that has two drain plugs. I didn't know it and only got about a quart out of the first one, seemed strange to me. The next day I found the other one.

Mustang? We used to have a '78 Ford Fairmont with a 302 that had two drains.

@jerrymildred thanks for that video, very interesting. Crazy though.

It makes me feel a lot better, about taking the whole engine underpanel off for every oil filter. An extra 5 minute exercise, and then one drain bolt: walk in the park.
