Nothing sticks to the dash of my 2013 Prius v. I need to mount a GPS in a place that doesn't distract and is easily visible. I've tried suction mounts. I've tried a sticky pad but it didn't stick to the dash. First choice would be center dash but I can't figure out how. Next choice would be??? Any thoughts, suggestions, guidance?

I use a bean bag mount, just set it on the center towards the right. I can still see everything on the instrument panel

This allows me to quickly use it in any vehicle.

The MacAlly Car CD Slot Phone Holder works well in my 2015 Prius V. It is solid, dependable and doesn't rattle. Easy to install and remove.

Needs to be connected to the whatever they call the lighter these days so that won't work. Sun is so bright I don't think a windshield mount will work.

I think that is the only thing that will work. I just gave one away so I can't try to see how that location deals with the sun/glare.

The GPS does not have a flat back. It is also thicker than a phone. As a result it pops itself right out of the cell phone holders I have tried, if it fits to begin with.

I run a USB power/data cable from the lighter power over the top of the steering column under the shroud to the A-pillar.

I am a klutz. I'm sure I could really get in trouble with that setup! ;)

Any of the magnetic CD slot units work great. I hesitate to recommend any single brand because we have 4 different brands and they all work about the same.

The key is going magnetic. Once you go magnetic you never go back. (n)

They all ship with 'metal pads' to attach to your phone or case. I'd recommend attaching the 'metal pad' to the inside of your case. It will be hidden and will not be sticking directly on the phone surface.

The only issue I've found is that the unit needs a strong magnet if you have a large phone.. Magnet strength seems to be a crap shoot among the different brands I've used but this one seems to be about the best I have found so far.

Oops..I wasn't going to recommend one.

    Except it isn't a phone...it's a GPS.

Oops I guess I automatically think that phone=GPS nowadays. I guess some still use a dedicated unit. (y)

What brand and model GPS? It makes a difference. When there isn't an out-of-the-box solution, it's often possible to create one using components from multiple suppliers. For example, I recently did this for a vehicle by combining components from RAM, Arkon and iOttie. Another one of my "go-to" suppliers for device mounting components is Pro.Fit International.

I went with a vent holder that screws down and seems to hold the weight (as the reviews claimed). I added a clip on visor to block the glare. I took a drive along the beach (glare city) and everything seemed to work. Undoubtedly you could rig up the visor.
