    Hello.

I have an issue with my 2nd Generation transmission.

Does anyone know of any professional who has worked on a Prius Synergy Drive in South West England? (UK) who can help me?

There is a severe lack of knowleagable people on these vehicles in this area of the country.

I need someone to remove the transmission and find the fault and possibly maybe even replace with a new one.

I am very sceptical about using Toyota dealerships as I feel they are incompetent and have deep reservations in trusting them.

Generally speaking, there is not a lot that can economically be serviced in the transaxle.

If you are sure it is faulty, (and you haven’t provided any information for us to know if you’re correct) your most practical option is to obtain a used part from a breaker and have a competent mechanic install it for you.

It was my assumption that replacing the transaxle would be the only logical option.
I have managed to find a place in London that will work on it and have confirmed they will replace the part if necessary.
What a nightmare this has been. Not even the local Toyota dealership have any staff that can work on it or even replace it.
They outsource all their work in relation to transmissions. After asking them who they outsource to I contacted them to see if they could help. Managed to find someone in this part of the country who has actually worked and successfull changed a transaxle by putting in a used unit but he told me in no uncertain terms he is not willing to do that particular type of job again mentioning having to use the high voltage gloves etc.
There seems to be a lot of ignorance regarding hybrid vehicles here in the UK with local garages and mechanics in general.
They seem to be frightened of getting electrocuted and there are not many taking the relevant courses to understand and learn working on them.
I will let people know here how I get on with getting this problem solved.
