My daughter bought one for fuel economy and environmental reasons. My wife borrowed it and demanded that I get her one also. No regrets.

It was $4000 with one owner, california car, with all the documentation. Even if the battery died the next day, it would cost the same as a similarly appointed car. Supposedly very reliable, and it'll keep miles off the Porsche, so why not?

Because I plan to buy a nicer car but I don’t wanna drive it on my lonnng highway commute. 30k Miles a year is bad for a car you baby. Plus it doesn’t feel special once you daily your nice car.

And yes I used to make fun of the Prius. Now I love mine.

I bought my Prius because I wanted to tow my motorcycle, camp in the car and use it as a quite 1000W home generator.

It turns out that this has been the most reliable car I have ever owned -- definitely most smiles per dollar.

I bought mine with 226,000 Miles. Its now got close to 260,000 Miles in the 1.5 years that I have owned it. So far just new tires, oil changes, new 12V battery and a transaxle fluid change.

    No major challenges.

Just want a newer Prius but found out that Subaru (owned 16% by Toyota) is coming out with a Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid with Prius components.

I had always liked the Prius since I rented a few on business trips in 2006. Bought our first one three years ago because it was offered for a decent price, had good service records and was at a used car dealer we've dealt with before and trust. Bought this one for the same reasons plus proven safety after the other was broadsided and totaled by a 2016 Honda HHR. Our family of four walked away without a scratch. We were also very fortunate to get this one with even better service records from the same dealer.

Getting over 40 mpg did factor into our decision as well. We take trips of 3,000-6,000 miles every summer and this car makes them a lot more affordable compared to a lot of older cars without the same amenities.
